I HIGHLY recommend you get a low-end netbook and a nice desktop over a gaming laptop.

If you insist on a laptop, I don't really know, sorry. If you give me some websites that sell computer shit I'll see.

For that money the best you could get would be a laptop that's enough for playing most games, when you want to play games at high settings then you should get a desktop. A good gaming laptop usually costs at least 1000€/£/$. Another solution would be that you buy a cheap laptop and use OnLive for gaming, not the best solution but it would work.

What shit are you smoking? Indie and source games? This laptop barely cost me £350, and it's good enough to play a lot of recent games, even if it aint on high settings. It only takes one look at my screenshots to realise that you are gonna be able to play way more than "indie and source" games on a laptop for that price.

Toshiba Satelite 655D-S5300. I have no problem running any of the games I've tried playing. I'm below minimum spec for Saints Row 3 and I don't even lag on that.

Don't think you can get a real "gaming" notebook for that price.
I think minimum for a laptop to game on is 700.

This actually doesn't seem too bad, im not sure how good/bad the video card is but the rest will run current gen games pretty well the only downside is being a laptop ventilation and cooling might cause issues over time if your playing new games at high gfx options.

EDIT: Though like others have said i would advise investing in to a nicer desktop for gaming :)

That box specs out rather well, if you're willing to put up with the s**t that Dell Support will put you through when something breaks and the slow driver updates from AMD. (And then there's the chicklet keyboard on any new notebook.)

My primary box is a 2009 Sager NP8662 that WAS a high-end rig in it's day. By comparison, synthetic benchmarks rate the linked notebook at approx 2x my CPU & about 10% behind my GPU (P9600 & GTX 260M vs. i5-3210 & Radeon 7730M).

I haven't installed current mainstream AAA titles like Metro 2033 yet, but the only thing I HAVE installed that I need to turn down the settings on is Railworks Train Simulator (niche AAA). Crank that one all the way up and it'll take a GTX 560M to single-digit FPS. The most stressful indie title I've installed is Endless Space, and I have no problems with it on 'Fantastic' (Ultra) settings.

Dude, I dont know about UK prices, but youll want to look for something running an AMD A6 or better. I am guessing, if my conversion holds up, you should have no issue finding laptops that have the A8-4500M. http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-A-Series-A8-4500M-Notebook-Processor.74884.0.html I work retail, selling this stuff, trust me, I know a lot about this. These AMD processors actually making gaming laptops viable and this is coming from someone who not three years ago said that gaming laptop was an oxymoron.

There's no such thing as gaming laptop, it's either laptop or overpriced, overheating, overweight and damn ugly pack of nonsense called "gaming" laptop and no, you can't get one for 500 bucks. This isn't just some random rant, it's just truth burdened under marketing strategy of "Get this SuperAwesomeMonsterProgamingPowerhouseOfTheKnownUniverse to flex on the other kids, dude!" and similar crap.

Right, because the difference between a normal laptop and a gaming one is just the price.
