I finally had someone by the name of "Store Admin" contact me via steam to offer me free keys but I was afk :(

I have waited for months have a conversation with one of these fine fellows, but missed my opportunity. I am disappointed.

That is such a shame :( I myself have been fortunate enough to converse with one of these fine individuals. The saddest thing was it was one of my friends I had added 4 months ago.

Just leave your account details on your profile. So next time one of those lovely "Store Admin" drop by, they'll be able to give you free games even if you're afk :)

I can understand your sadness. I'm a little sad about the fact that Steam exists, meaning people can acquire loads of great games for literally pennies a lot of the time (even for free if they know of this fine site and are lucky enough), yet lowlife like "Store Admin" try crap like this. Although I guess I could be wrong, just like I was wrong about those emails in my spam folder about my DHL packages, flight bookings and bank accounts of branches I've never set foot in.

The bank account emails for companies I've never dealt with before are always good ones. Also, I estimate my Nigerian lottery winnings to be roughly $84,629,473,914,819,474 to date.

Funnily enough I've not been fortunate enough to win the Nigerian lottery as yet. Will keep my fingers crossed.

Lottery? I guess you didn't heard about the Nigerian prince whos father and rest of the family where murdered.
The poor guy could not reach his money without the murderers finding him. So out of roughly 6 billion people he has chosen me to recieve his funds. I only need to give back 60%. He probably won the lottery right before you -_-

No, I haven't heard from that guy either! Perhaps he's been trying to contact me by letter delivered by international courier. I should probably check that zip file that was attached, that will probably have the crucial information that for some reason couldn't be contained within the actual message.

16k That's a lot of games. Quite a lot indeed.

And those things are pathetic, trying to scam and all that. :-/

Same thing happened to me around two months back.Sent a ticket to support together with a screenshot and this is what they said: "Thank you for contacting Steam Support. The message you received was not from Steam Support or any other Valve Employees - Steam Support will never ask for your password.Steam Support does not use the Friends network (or any instant messaging or chat service) to contact users, nor will we request CD Key information or credit card purchase information unless you have contacted us for assistance or the information is being sent to steamsupport@support.steampowered.com Unfortunately, a user's display name can change, which means we may not be able to locate this individual without more information. If you can provide a link to the user's Steam Community profile, we can investigate the issue further."

And? Did you provide a link? Did they investigate?

It seems that after signing up and keeping the same alias for 18 months, at some point in the last 24 hours they have decided it's time for a change. Unless this persons actual name IS Store Admin anybody would think that the account was created with the sole intention of scamming naive/greedy people.

Yes I did provide a link to both the user as well as the website. They said that they will investigate and take the appropriate action. They also did add that I will not receive a notification about any action taken as a result of this report though. To be honest I don't think they did anything, because till today I can still see that guy online in my friends list even though he changed his username.
