The closest store with stock is 31 miles away, there is no guarantee there's a taco place on the way, and it's way too hot outside.

I honestly don't know why they were/are still carrying some PC games because GameStop has not been the place that people go to for those for many years... even before the rise of digital distribution in my opinion. But hey, whatever. Unsold games are good for deal-hunting consumers.

Called local store last night and they were sold out.
Called a store 40 miles away and had 1 in stock. Asked if any chance for a store transfer.
Manager was coming to my local store this morning and offered to bring it with him and put it on hold.
Rare to find a manager of a smaller retail chain to do this.

Yes. I just purchased a copy of Fallout 4 at my local GameStop and can confirm it comes with a Steam key. The back of the jewel case specifically states that the installation of Steam is required as part of the minimum system requirements.

As said in the OP, if you have any desire to get the DLC, don't buy this. You get no discount for owning the base game.
When it comes to bethesda, better to keep tabs on GOTY versions.

I was able to actually get this. friend works out of town and drove right past a Gamestop that had it.
Dunno why they had the DVD in there LOL pretty sure all the content would have to be updated by now from the servers.
Just glad the key worked since the case was not shrink-wrapped.

GameStop has the physical edition of Fallout 4 on clearance for $1.97. Includes a Steam key in the box. As it is sold out online the deal is subject to local stock, so YMMV.
edit: good luck getting the Season Pass at a great price though. Damn you Bethesda!
