Sunrise alarm is the absolute nuts. You can also use the "sunset" function to fall asleep as well. I've been using mine since 2011, haven't even needed to change the bulb. Definitely one of the best investments you can make.

I use one by BioBrite, but their website is a piece of shit so I can't link you directly. I would imagine there are a lot of different brands/models nowadays, but you'll likely spend around $80-$100 for a quality one. It's an investment, but I said, I've been using mine every day for almost seven years and haven't even had to change the bulb.

I've always wanted one of these. Problem here is that he may be in deep enough sleep that the sunrise alarm alone won't do much. I think he would also need to adjust what time he goes to sleep.

That's why there is an audio alarm feature as a backup, it can even gradually increase in volume. In my life, I've probably slept through the sunrise maybe twice-- it's way more effective than you'd think. I don't even turn on the backup audio alarm anymore.
You can certainly adjust your sleeping times, that's the whole point. I have to flip my sleep every single week, which is why I love the "sunset" feature as well. It's easier to trick your circadian rhythm by using both the sunset and sunrise.
By far, though, the best thing is that you don't have to wake up-- you're simply awake. You slowly regain consciousness as the light brightens, so you're actually waking up before you even open your eyes. Suddenly, you just open your eyes as if waking naturally, ready to go. No hitting snooze, less grogginess, just a quiet room bathed in sun-bright light.

Huh. Good to know. I might just have to invest in one. I've always been very intrigued by the concept.

You've got nothing to lose! I received mine as a christmas gift and I've been a complete convert ever since. It's definitely one of those things where you immediately think, "Damn, I should have done this years ago."

Those are the best ... when you look back and say, "That was an amazingly worthwhile purchase!" :)

A-exactly! ;) Both suggestions are completely correct. If you actually want to wake up, you have to get up - and what's better than putting the alarm a bit far away, in order to have to get up and close it. Also, caffeine is pretty useless, makes you an "addict", and affects your nerves. It won't help you wake up, but it just will make you nervous and will make you sleep really bad. I never drink coffee myself (caffeine isn't only in coffee though). Anyway, I agree with you.

I mean the caffeine can only be imbibed after you wake up, so probably LOL.

I usually set two alarms about five minutes apart and put the phone far away from where I sleep though close enough that I can still hear it, works fine so far.

Okay, I lost my test. Summing up:
The same way your body got used to wake up late, you can change again your sleep hygiene and wake up earlier.
Also , make a schedule of things you can do in the morning, so you don't wake up for "nothing". Clean, organize folders on the computer, send an email, whatever. It's a timetable, but it takes time to work... Ironically.

You could try out app for phone. Dont know how they are called. But there are a lot out there.
It works with sensors in your phone. you set an alarm for a desired time (e.g. 7 am - 8 am). It will read your sleeping sequances (REM sleep and light sleep). And in the morning it will try to wake you up the moment you go out of REM sleep. Some kind of movement or pattern.
Basically if you move your body inbetween your set time, alarm will turn on.
Helped me alot. Havent used it lately because Im just sick of everything anyway. But all in all its a great app..
Somehow "sleep like android" is stuck in my memory. Maybe its called something like that.

I have the same problem. I guess it's a non-problem as long as I am unemployed.
This topic reminded me of this scene :D
I'm sorry, I couldn't find it with subtitles, but you can try youtube subtitles, they aren't really accurate but give you an idea.

Oh, I don't really know! I'll do a research later, I'll get in touch if I find something.

Have you changed the time you go to bed, or do you not go to bed at a set time? That can cause problems waking up. Other than that try putting your alarm clock on the other side of the room so you have to actually get out of bed to shut it off.

Maybe you're not tired enough at that time? Do you use computer screens (phones, computers, tv) before going to bed? That also creates problems with your melatonin levels.
Reading a book (you know, on old-fashioned paper) also helps a lot to wind you down for sleep.

Sit up, open your eyes. Turn with your legs hanging off the side of the bed. Proceed to get up out of bed.

Months.
Used to exercise a ton long time ago, but stopped. I actually found it made me not sleep at night more lol. Also shower before bed because it helps relax me to sleep (preferably cold). Still as thin as ever and people wonder if I'm still exercising but not telling anyone about it lol.

15 minutes of exercise every day, no excuses.
I actually found it made me not sleep at night more lol.
This is a false correlation. Exercising will not make you sleep less. It can, however, help your body require less sleep.

Heh, I would say any other time than bed time.
Edit: Really though, I'm pretty sporadic with my 15 min. Sometimes I get it in before work, other times after. Latest I'd do it is a few hours before bed.

Other attempts?
Please spend the room dark before you go to bed.
As you wake up, you will brighten the room.
Then turn on the light and stare at it. Waking up is improved.
If it is recent ...
It is also good to reduce stimulus in "night mode" of Windows 10.

Have the same problem, though always am an evening person, but i had periods i woke up at 6:00 to 8:00 now it's hard, thought stopping with alcohol would help get back a healthier sleeping patron but it didn't.
There are some special lights for it, but never tried one.

Get a wife or husband. That should wake you up.
Personally I'm like this guy I saw in an animated video where he has like 50 clocks going off one after another and still doesn't wake up.

As someone who flips my sleep schedule every week, this does not work.

I used to be able to wake myself up between 5-6 AM, then it degraded to 8 AM, then even further to 9-10 AM. I've tried many things, going to bed early, setting an alarm, nothings working. I'm in a sort of waking sleep where I know "OK, I can get up now", but my body is extremely hard to move.
Anyone know of a way to wake up and get up in mornings?
