Oh no please don't be sorry. I had checked myself for the weekend freebies on steamdb... or rather I thought I had but that was last week xD
I did play a few hours and it's alright. Not as bad as reviews seem to be saying (is it ever?)
Definitely too expensive on full price but on sale why not?

(but those 2 hours are supposed to carry over if/when you buy the game)

Wow. I wasn't expecting that one so soon. Guess it wasn't as much of a hit as they've been saying it was.
Ofc a 2 hour demo makes sense on a game you can complete in 15 hours.
I may try it out but I'm not sure.
Thanks for keeping us informed as always Fitzy (•‿•)

Demos are great, I wish more big games had them. Just recently there was that free weekend for Cyberpunk 2077, and they wanted you to download the full game (just around 100GB) just to be able to play a trial of 5 hours! :D That was completely unreasonable, so I was glad to see Mirage has a separate demo version listed. However it still appears to be the size of the full game, so not... entirely sure what the point of it is. Also not sure why they wouldn't have a demo available at all times when it's limited amount of game hours, it feels silly to have it be restricted to just these few days.

Right? I know people keep saying "oh but Steam lets you refund if you play less than 2 hours so it's like a demo" but you have to download the whole thing and make damn sure what your play time is to the minute or you get screwed. Also you have to buy your games on Steam which I almost never do except big sales

They did the same thing with Motorfest back when it released. The point is that the game didn't sell as long as they wanted so they are trying the FOMO tactics. I guess they think people will say "hey if I buy it I won't have to download it again" xD
They are trying to create a big event out of a demo which is kinda silly imo.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't be buying a game from Steam just with the intention of "let's just try it." It's good the refund option exists, but it really shouldn't be thought of as a demo chance, haha.
FOMO tactics
Ah yes, true. Our eternal enemy nowadays... I'm not completely immune to FOMO myself either, but at least in this case I'm able to avoid it. Mostly because for a huge game like Mirage, I don't think two hours would really show you much of it, lucky if you got out of learning the basics by then!

Same. The last few free weekends I played were for "huge" games I had on my wishlist and they ended off the wishlist by the end of the weekend.

Especially since even the players who loved the game said that not much happens in the first couple of hours. And it's not that huge a game. It was after all planned as a DLC/expansion for ACV so they never had much to go on.

I almost forgot about this xD
Thanks for the reminder. I wasn't impressed unfortunately. World looks amazing, characters animation and texture look terrible. Main character voice acting is way below par (of course nobody is talking about it unlike when ACV was released and the female actress was dumped on for not sounding feminine enough basically).
Two hours of game and that was literally a tutorial, an intro, a training montage and scene after boring scene of progressing the very basic story to nothing.
Another one that goes off my wishlist. The best cure for the wallet blues is playing demos.

Did you actually hit the 2-hour mark?
I did but since I had just concluded a mission and saw I had 5 seconds left, I just quit the game normally and uninstalled.
From memory on Prince of Persia, you had a countdown for the last minute and you were ejected to main menu with an offer to buy the game. I don't know how they did it there.
