Is the world ready for Call of Duty Battle Royale Humble Monthlies?

View Results
[Recurring subscription] Well, I didn't cancel monthlies that initially looked worse than this... I'll just go with the flow: one more month...
[New subscription] I'm not into Egyptian tomb swashbuckling, but Calladooty is my joint.
[Maybe subscribe] I’m just waiting for IGN to bring back one of the previous good deals for new subscribers.
[Cancelling / Pausing subscription] That's it, I had enough of these. First UPlay, now Battle.net. I want Steam keys, deitydamnit.
[Non-subscriber, will not buy] Humble Monthly is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. And I don't like uncertainty.

ugh. I don't want COD:BO4. Can I gift it? I remember gifting Overwatch, so I presume it's possible if I don't decide to pause for a month :/

pff call of duty, for me is the most overrated videogame franchise

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

To be considered overrated, it should be at least good first.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah you're right, all call of duty's are garbage

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

To be considered under-rated, it should be good. Over-rated implies that it isn't as good as what people claim (and indeed, could actually be bad). FRANCHISE: The first few Call of Duty games were good, so there was something good to start off with.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

"Overrated" is just codeword for "i don't like this game for arbitrary reasons and i think nobody should". It's a meaningless concept. Most of the time, when people claim that this or that game is overrated is actually at least decent enough.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Pretty accurate - it's a sign that someone doesn't like the game as much as the general public, or as much as they would like it. And easier to say that others are overdoing it, than just admitting not liking it, which is still perfectly okay. ( Like how I have no interest in any COD or Battlefield games, yet they are top sellers worldwide without any real effort)
Aaaand happy cakeday!

To be fair, it's perfectly possible to release a bad or mediocre game and still get tons of players (Infinite Warfare is a prime example). That still doesn't make it overrated, at least quality-wise. And often players will recognize how bad it is, but will keep playing it, as it was for me when i was playing Modern Warfare 3 years ago.

PAUSE.

Looking at the games I got for may (all of them on my ignore list) and that now early unlock is some Call of Duty Battle Royale shit PAUSE is the only option for me.

Eh. If it was giftable I wouldn't pause. But MP-only Call of Duty... for Battlenet... and not being able to gift/trade it makes it an instant pause.

Edit: If you go to pause, it gives you the option to get a $2 discount if you stay. Take it, then go back and pause the month. The coupon doesn't expire for 3 months, so you can use it on the hopefully better monthly after this one!

It feels like Humble Monthly promotions are very random. Got the 3 dollar offer last month on my main account, but then I also got a gift a free month offer so I cancelled and used my second account to get AC:Origins for free (and gifted everything to myself lol). Now I got the $3 off on my second account but I haven't checked the offer for my main account. It has to be good though since I'm not really interested in Battle.net

(All this promotions feel desperate though)

Permalink

Yeah, pretty random :D
I also got the free-gift-month and gave it to a friend, since I don't have a second account :)

I dont know why i have a second account btw, just made it a long time ago for some reason.

Alright, but be careful ;)
They might get suspicious someday if you exploit the system that way more often :D

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, they might but its not forbidden i think. Instead of giving a free month to a friend, why not give everyone a free month? Or a 2 for 1 offer. It might work better for them :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I think the main purpose of that promotion was to get more people into getting a monthly :)
They don't really gain anything from giving a completely free month to people who are already buying monthlies, except positive PR :3

I did a quick search about the multi-account stuff and it seems like it's against their TOS: link to post
But that said...I haven't heard of anybody who got into trouble yet, so they may not punish this at the moment :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah i get that :) but it seems that they can use some positive PR right now lol. I recently bought 3 months for the price of two and that was the only promotion that got me buying multiple months so far, so imo that is good promotion. For the TOS its kind of grey since they are talking about a number per user which doesnt apply in this case. I am however aware that its not the ''nicest'' thing to do and that it is'nt meant to be used that way, but well i did xd. And if they punish, then well its my own fault :) For now i'm happy i got AC:Origins free which is also the only game of the month i'm actually interested in :D

You will not lose anything. I paused and my subscription is now active one month more because I don't pay for this shit month.

If you have multiple months bought and you want to skip (and not lose) a month then you have to go to manage your subscriptions and pause. Watch which buttons you click, they made it extra hard to cancel xD

Begrudgingly pausing - For me the later reveals month to month have ranged from amazing to meh, wherein May was a step above meh. If I could gift the early reveal here I'd have an easier time unpausing.
Publishers are wanting to kill the grey market, like Ubisoft is, with silent key activation :(

It seems that you can gift it after all, if you link your Battle.net account.

I don't have a Battle.net account though. This feels like a sneaky move from Blizzard to get people to sign up to their store.

Which is... a perfectly understandable move. If they did not want to draw players to their client, they wouldn't have agreed to bundling the game.

Does anyone know, what exactly does it mean for me as an annual subscriber if they offer me 2$ off for the next month if I don't pause this month? Do I get 2$ wallet? Already paid the whole year, so how exactly do they intend to give me that discount?

Afaik you will receive a coupon you can use at your own discretion.

I'm not an annual subscriber but I just got a coupon for 2$ off from my next monthly. I was still able to pause this month and the coupon is valid till Aug 2, 2019 :) I'm sure I will find a use for that :P

What means can not make gift link. Does it means it is not possible to give to anyone? Last time it was battle net game i could make a gift link as far as I remember. If something was changed then it would be very very bad. I will probably pause and if i can not make gift link i will pause for 10000%

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It means exactly that, that you cannot gift it to anybody. It sucks. The only way you could do it is by letting somebody gain control of your Humble Bundle account so they can redeem the game on their Battle.net account, or you gain control of their Battle.net account so you can redeem the game for them. Either way is too risky and definitely not worth it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It sucks hard. It means I will pause this month for sure as I am not interested in Early unlock and even can not give it to anyone. Also it is generał rule or only in this one? I made today some hours ago gift link for a uplay AC but unpaused also today before reveal.

You need to link YOUR battle.net account first, then you should be able to create your giftlink... as sources tell (not me as I'll probably skip this one)
