Maybe I am dumb, but I don't see how thinking rationally as advised in the puzzle description can help with questions like this

Thats more a guessing game than a puzzle ^^ there are no clues to the questions to answer them rationally.

If you were to use rational thinking, the number between 1 and 999999 would be 499999 => (999999-1)/2
I guess it's either a joke, or you want us to just do wild guesses. Either way, I'm out :( Too bad, I like puzzles.

And by the way, as for guessing a random number between 1 and 999999. Say you were to try 50% of the numbers before finding the right one. That means about 500000 guesses. Since you can guess once per 30 seconds, it would take you 4167 hours to try that many numbers. 4167 hours divided on 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, all year round is almost exactly two years.

That is not a puzzle but a satire :P

One question about these puzzle's, does syntax matter? For example, is "dog" the same as "Dog", or do I have to match capitalization as well?
