I'm not someone who is really into Visual Novels or Hidden Object Games but I really wanted get some sort of understanding and examples of what are considered quality games of the two genres. On SG you see a lot of these games, often ones you can pick up a bundle of 10 or so for a really cheap price. Often times these just don't seem like they would be that great, but then again I'm not someone who like the genre. As far as Visual Novels I do enjoy RPGs and JRPGs and while there are things you might see in a visual novel in them there's often lots of combat and gameplay attached.

So in your opinion what are some examples of the highest standard of Hidden Object Games and Visual Novels?

VN? hell no!

usually i don't even play HOGs. i absolutely despise hunting pixels, i hate solving puzzles that make no / barely any sense at all and i don't like how linear they are.
the only HOG / puzzle games i really love are all of the room games. they are absolutely brilliant and worth every second i spent with them.
is that even a HOG? ah well, whatever.
