Is it possible in any way to play games in Russian language? It would be great to play games with Russian audio and English subtitles.

The game has to offer such a feature. You can't really force it unless you do it yourself.

Logic 101. Thanks for the lesson.

What is chiness by the way? Is it a special kind of chess?

Yeah, all the pieces have been replaced with different types of chins.

I saw on torrent websites there are many games with Russian language. What if I'd download them and I copy their files to my game on steam? Would I be able to play?

Patching English-language games with Russian subtitles has always been a popular activity in the Russian segment of the Net. There is a chance there could be similar websites that offer English patches for Russian-language games.

Metro 2033 supports Russian audio with English subtitles. I deliberately played that way, even though I don't know Russian at all.
It definitely was a fun and novel experience.

There is Stalker series too, which are great games with great voice acting!

You can't be serious? Stalker has awful voice acting. Being russian myself i remember perfectly how bad overall acting was in these games. Saharov's "Da da?" :D

I am not russian, but I understand it.Stalker was somehow funny but enjoyable. It could be me,seeing it in a non serious way it's not that bad.Again maybe a native russian could take it badly or as a diss, that is another story.

PS: sakharov was funny,i cranked every time he popped up!

Fun fact: have you heard about lektor in Polish TV? That guy with a husky voice who reads over dialogues in movies with emotions of a Cyberman? STALKER is the only game so far that uses this.

Yeah i know about polish readers(lektors),they are pretty annoying.I would rather prefer full translation,or original language, mixing both is just a no no.

Also an ukrainian friend had a version where he had original english voices toned down with russian above them, while the version i tried had original, russian only voices.Dunno why was that.

Same here. It's cool to listen to original audio, it helps the atmosphere. Also, you have subtitles to know what is going on.

@thug1747: That is something only Russians could tell, we foreigners don't mind...

The only way to be sure about whether or not you will be able to mix different languages in audio and subtitles is to follow someone's recommendations or to get the game and try for yourself. Not every game supports this feature and it will most likely not be mentioned anywhere.

Replacing audio files in one language with another language will most likely not work, as the game might ensure multiple checks and cross-references when working with audio. However, that depends on how audio data is structured within game files, so once again, it's a case by case issue.

From the top of my head, Metro2033, Portal 1-2, Stalker series and Cryostasis support mixing languages.

There is a lot of great information in Russian, that's why.

I'll trust you on that :D Russian is a very informative language.
However, myself, being russian, I prefer the original voice acting, to localised... There is a reason for that: the lack of effort to make the game sound good.
Except for some really examples of brilliant vioce acting, like StarCraft II or Dead Space, I would suggest you to play in the original language.

I think the OP's desire is the same - to play the games in original language. E.g. Metro 2033 and Stalker. ;)

It's not mentioned in the original post, so I guess the topic is about games generally :D

Well unless he wants to learn English by reading the subs listening to Russian voice-over (which I can pretty much confirm wouldn't work, if Russian is your native language)... Than yeah Rus voice+eng sub is only good, if you either want to learn Russian language or want the original voicework. Another case would be, as mentioned below, if both languages are foreign for you, than you have to try and choose the best way to understand the info.

OP's from Lithuania, Russian probably sounds more natural to him.

Yeah, I would agree with that... However, it's still a fact that voice acting is awful in most of localised games ;)

That's a possibility, if both languages are foreign for him.

Deus Ex: HR supports Russian dub over English subs, as far as google can be trusted. If you're interested, I can test to see if that's true myself.

Otherwise, you could simply pirate the localized Russian version of the game, assuming you bought what you'll play in the first place.
