While not free, I would recommend looking up The Secret World some time. No subscription, but an initial payment for the game, along with buying additional story chapters. Managed to hold my attention for 19 hours. That is about 18 more than any other MMO.

Is it still active? Played it alot then it became pay to play in which everyone left, then Suba took over but everyone left again. Made me actually decide not to play mmorpgs anymore.
Though i still played Cabal but i liked it especially because you could have a cute pet icebear. :p
