But Origin, Ys VI and Oath in Felghana are true hack'n'slash. They're very different from the modern Ys games. You should really try out at least Origin, one of the best hack'n'slash games I've played.

The official website still sells it (https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/family/diablo-ii)
A remastered version (called resurected) is coming soon. I didn't like the videos, but I play mostly for nostalgia.
All classes can finish the game solo in the standard difficulty, when you beat that you can restart (keeping the same equipment and level) in nightmare difficulty, and hell difficulty after that.

And how about the first Diablo? You can get it for like $5 on GOG, together with Hellfire expansion, and it's DirectX compatible. Not hard, actually pretty easy, but used to be a lot of fun. Can't say, how long it would keep my attention nowadays, but a hack'n'slash fan should surely take a look at it.

I enjoyed Victor Vran quite a bit. The Mötorhead expansion is fun (and just as silly as you would expect), but I wouldn't recommend Fractured Worlds.

A few friends of mine have played Wolcen, their complaint was that the game doesn't have much endgame content

Hyper Light Drifter? It's more focused on the bosses though.
Also, i saw you got bastion already. That's a good game.

That's a very good game as well :)

Divine Divinity is another old and good one, the gameplay is quite different to the one of the recent sequels, much more action-oriented and not turn-based.
Also, Revenant; but you can only play it on GOG.com.

Definetly both Bayonetta games, and if you'd like to step outside of your comfort zone a bit I think you'd like Hades and ULTRAKILL too.

Hades is more roguelike than hack&slash in my book (I'm not good at game genre definitions...). It's not permadeath though; you're supposed to die a lot and "start over" with better stats/abilities. It reminds me of The Binding of Isaac, but I like Hades much more.

Disagree with what? Hades developers call it a hack and slash roguelike in their steam description, as for permadeath that's a term that describes a scenario in which after you die you can't continue playing with that character anymore and have to start anew.
Here's the definition from wikipedia:
Permadeath or permanent death is a game mechanic in both tabletop games and video games in which player characters who lose all of their health are considered dead and cannot be used anymore. Depending on the situation, this could require the player to create a new character to continue, or completely restart the game potentially losing nearly all progress made.
Permadeath is contrary to games that allow the player to continue in some manner, such as their character respawning at a nearby checkpoint on "death" (such as in Minecraft), resurrection of their character by a magic item or spell, or being able to load and restore a saved game state to avoid the death situation (such as in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim). The mechanic is frequently associated with both tabletop and computer-based role-playing games and is considered an essential element of the roguelike genre of video games. The implementation of permadeath can vary depending on the type of game.
It just doesn't make sense for you to disagree with a term that has already been set, defined and used as such by millions of gamers for years.

I'm not gonna argue the developers calling it both hack&slash and roguelike, although I'll still say it's more roguelike than hack&slash :p
But I still disagree with the permadeath-part, but it's all because games mix up stuff. If a game was clearly one thing or the other, it wouldn't be so complicated (I'm not saying I want games to be like that, mixing up certainly makes for more interesting games).
You describe it yourself as "a scenario in which after you die you can't continue playing with that character anymore" - that doesn't fit on Hades, where you do continue with the same character after dying and you keep some of your upgrades. I guess this makes the game more rogue-lite than rogue-like, but whatever :)
When I think permadeath I think Torchlight or Kingdoms of Amalur-permadeath; for roguelike I think Binding of Isaac fits the description better than Hades does. I haven't played it much and it's been a while, but as I remember it you don't get to keep anything when you start over (except the knowledge of what different power-ups do and how they work together).

You're so damn stubborn. Maybe in Hades it's not a permanent death story-wise and you get to keep some stuff, but it is gameplay-wise since every time you lose you have to start from the first area again. That's the whole point of permadeath as a mechanic. You're thinking way too literally.

Redeemer actually has quite a neat equipment system for both, melee wps + firearms. It´s rather old school and might be a not as grand as other tiles like Grim Dawn or Shadows.. Still, I enjoyed it quite a bit ^_^

Loved to play Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning a while ago (PS3).
There's a remastered version on steam that's on my WL.
Waiting for a better price to play again a great hack’n’slash.
