What is your previous experience with Reversi/Othello?
Play professionally (is there such a thing?)
Yes. Under the Japanese brand name "Othello", there are international tournaments.
On a related note, Othello is often considered an introductory device for learning tactical fundamentals used in Go Board [Goban] games (eg, Go, Gobang [Gomoku], and Pente), so some [Go] professionals may potentially also have an early background in Othello.

I haven't played too much Othello/Reversi, but I have owned multiple boards and have probably a few hundred games under my belt. I currently only play a few times a year, when it's dusted and pulled out the closet.
But it's a really fascinating game that requires a lot of attention/concentration and if you are playing with the right people, it can be really cut-throat.
This is a game that takes the base puzzle/board game and inserts it into the battle system of a simplistic RPG broken into chapters and quests. Pretty fun and neat design into the overall game system.
