I had the same issue a few months back - for me it certainly turned out Windows 7 installs are very picky about how you make your bootable USBs. I can't remember what method I used that worked in the end, but the YUMI suggestion is probably a good one.
Or it could well be an issue with USB 3 as that won't work properly until Windows is up and running and the proper drivers are installed...

I never thought i'd ever need help on installing windows ever again but life proves me wrong
This is the step just after selecting the language and the date/time format.
I'm installing Windows 7 Ultimate on a Lenovo G585 laptop. USB booted.
I've read somewhere that it might be the fault of a dead HDD but i don't think that's the case cause the laptop seems to work just fine(as fine as a virus swarmed laptop can work).
So...any help would be great. Thanks guys xD
