EA on Twitter:
"No microtransactions. No loot boxes. And no, we won't be adding them. A single-player Star Wars story for those of you who are ready to become a Jedi."

EA apparently has a lot to make up for so fingers crossed it does it for them.

Trailer looks pretty good. I'll be waiting to see how the gameplay is but I don't mind the single-player experience.
And since the character is a guy, at least we won't have that kind of cry-babying to worry about.

I haven't played a Star Wars game since Rogue Squadron on the N64 and I don't plan on playing another, but if I was going to play it, I would like that it is a story driven single player.

Play KOTOR1 and 2, trust me.

I was never a big fan of the Star Wars franchise, so I am not really interested in the story and both of those games look really dated and not the type of game I would enjoy. I like old games, but they either have to be really good or something I played in the past that is nostalgic.

I recently played the first Witcher and STALKER games, enjoyed them a lot, and want to continue their series. I recently played Prey (2006). I have never played an Assassin's Creed, Fallout, Dishonored, or original Far Cry game, plus many more that I am forgetting. On top of that, I love classic games like 90s point and clicks and new indie games. I have such a long backlog of old and new games that I will probably never be able to get through all the games I want to play, so I really don't see myself ever playing something Star Wars related.

You're missing out on Kotor, it is really good. Also I would prioritize Dishonored from the ones you mentioned and Assassin's Creed 2. After getting through the Witcher of course. And I still like the first Far Cry over any of the sequels.

No micropayment shit in EA game?! They're surely determined to erase bad impression after that whole Battlefront II fuss.
Sadly, the CG trailer says nothing about the gameplay, and detres with crappy character design out of the Rogue One movie.

No microtransactions. No loot boxes. bet there will still be dlc and bonus for people who buy pre release.

We really should pick our battles here, I see nothing wrong with dlc at this point, extra content, is extra content. There will probably be 3 different versions of the game like usual, a standard, deluxe, and ultimate version. Pick the one you want.

There's no inherent problem with DLC... but it's pretty common for games to be released with 80% of their planned content, with the other 20% deliberately cut from the initial release so it can be included in the first two DLC packs.

Anyway, I agree, probably a separate conversation.

On topic: this is good news, I am now officially interested in this game, where I would not have been if it was a microtransaction-laden lootboxfest.

There's probably a catch, everyone was singing praises about BF2 learning from the mistakes of BF1. Till the beta showed the horrid truth that all the good words where laced with poison.

Yeah but this time they're already saying none of that will be an issue so if the game is bad it's just a bad game, not corporate greed ruining a game type of bad.

Corporate greed comes in many ways. Not ruling anything out, learning the lesson from BF2 or all other EA products.

if the dlc is more levels and story and whatnot and it comes out months after release, that cool. that type of extra content is cool and i would proudly pay for. like dungeons 3, i got all the dlc day 1 when it came out because its pure content and it was requested by the community.

day 1 dlc is garbage. and people supporting it is what led to micro transactions, and lootboxes, and payed mods in the first place.(sorry mini dlc)

Hopefully it won't be akin to The Force Unleashed 3, but I think Respawn are better than that.

Hopefully more like Jedi Knights 3.
The development team should be made to play both Jedi Knights and the Force Unleashed, to understand what they need to embrace and hopefully avoid.

Finally, they are listening to us, the fans (or at least they're telling us the words we want to hear)!!!

Well. That works too. I'm just sick of microtransactions. EA has been one of my favorites for a long while now, but they've really just sacrificed some potentially great games in the name of profiting over people enjoying the game itself. It's just frustrating and I hope they'll back off of them in the future.
I can hope right?

Press X to doubt.
I mean, it's less than a year when they killed the sp sw game we all wanted. And they did that to... make a new one? Yeah, not buying it.

They burned Amy out of gaming, killed Visceral. Just to go "nvm, we want something like that after all."

I'd prefer a non-Jedi protagonist, but these are at least 2-3 steps into the right direction.

something that turns out being like AC Rogue? Could be nice.

Well, the ships would be spaceships, it doesn't have to be with Hoth (for the snow)... :D
.. but in most SW games/movies Jedi tend to be not balanced, though I get that these make SW unique. I also like the sci-fi part more than the fantasy part. So playing a young smuggler/pilot/trooper or even civilian (in the beginning) in the a galaxy far, far away appeals more to me.

zero hype, not for the game but for anything that came from EA.
I dont swallow EA lies anymore.
The games smell more like a Force Unleashed (that parkour scene =S ) than a Knight of the Old Republic.

I'm afraid to say it looks pretty good because I'm sure EA will find some way to screw it up. They have a lot of making up to do with the lack of games they've released since obtaining the license and focusing only on micro transactions and multiplayer. We should have had more Jedi Knight style games by now. We haven't even gotten any movie based games or anything. It's almost embarrassing to waste the license like they have. We were way better off years ago when everyone could make Star Wars games. Sure many were terrible, but there were so many and there was so much variety with movie based, vehicle combat, flying, lightsaber/force combat, the terrible 1v1 Teras Kasi, etc.

So Jedi Outcast/Academy with some stealth elements or a need to resist using the force in certain situations would be incredible. I know we can't count on it, but I loved the Jedi Knight series so much that I'm going to fall for the hype and end up preordering the second I can.

Sigh.

This is Disney trying to makeup for Battlefront 2's DISASTER, dont think EA will follow up in any game that isnt from a Disney Property (but hey, everything will be a disney property eventually!)

Not buying it. They never even tried to make up from TLJ, and it seems RoS will miss the mark entirely. So why would they care more about the games than their moviefranchise?

If only DA4 will be loot-box-, & microtransaction-free. Also, if it is similar to or better than Joplin, that would also be very nice.

They should have learned that already. After all in true irony they blamed God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2 for Battlefield 5's poor performance.
