I pretty much stopped caring after they sold the site. From some great 1$ deals to mediocre games with "PWYW" starting at 2.5$ or even higher.. it went from "Hmm, perhaps the next 1$ deal will interest me" to "Here's a game on sale disguised as pay what you want deal".

Yeah. It so funny. I bought the annual subscription based on the last good deal they had (Tabletop Racing), everything since then has been bad games, super cheap games, bad deals, or all of the above.

Yup. I have the annual package, and barely got anything out of it.
I've missed two games going into my wallet. The second one did not get any response from support.
I also have a few codes I haven't redeemed yet.
Probably can't get a refund through PayPal, right?
Comment has been collapsed.
Hmm... I'll check that. Thanks.
BTW, I found a tweet and facebook post from May 15 and 16 saying the website is under maintenance. So who knows.
Ironically, I found out the site was down when I was going to find the support email to threaten them with a refund request.
Live and learn, eh?

I used to get the PWYW deals pretty religiously, and bought a lot of stuff on sale. I bought Rebuild 3 there, and when I tried to get the Steam key from my library, it said "no keys left" or something like that. I contacted support 4 times with no reply, opened 3 threads on the forums, and finally, like 2 months later, initiated a chargeback. They contested the chargeback on Paypal saying I got my key, which I didn't. Never went back. My library there has something like 200 games, on my main account. Really pissed me off.

Been seeing the site down the last few days and just came here to make a thread asking what's up if no else had. Yeah, when it eventually comes back online, if it ever does, I'm getting my drm-free downloads and redeeming all the keys. Going to keep looking out for it and will hopefully be able to do that soon...
Also, man, I found out about it just after they stopped having really good deals. Some of the ones from the beginning of the PWYW deal were amazing. Still got some decent ones, but it has been mostly meh for the past year.

Yeah they changed hands a little less than a year ago (I think july 2016)

I've sent a ticket to support via their support system. Feel free to do the same, especially if you are are an Elite subscriber.

i never heard about the sale but i got burned by them a few times when they sold more copies than they had keys for so i haven't bought anything from them in a long time

Good news, everyone! (I think)

Thanks for posting that, devotee (and everyone else who's posted here, such as about the new(-ish) owners, support page link, etc). I'll for sure be checking the site daily and hoping I can grab keys and copies of my purchases.
Such a shame. The big Steam sales aren't quite what they used to be, but I've been able to fill that hole somewhat with great deals on sites like IGS, HB, BS, etc. IGS has been one of my top three recommendations to friends and family over the past couple of years, but after this, I just don't know. One thing's for sure, if they DO have plans to come back and stick around, they've got their work cut out for them to earn people's trust back. "We'll be back shortly" followed by a week of silence is beyond even the most amateur of PR sensibilities -- and worth way more damage than a professional-sounding email reply to a few customers can fix, I strongly suspect.

It's not technically going to damage their reputation with me as far as giving money to them if the deal is good, but after this I'll basically be redeeming and backing up every new game ASAP after purchase from there... My consumer confidence is certainly rather shot, in terms of long-term prospects for the site. Things seem rather tenuous, although I guess it's also possible that they just took the time to fix technical issues with the site and handled it really poorly as far as communication goes. That said, they haven't had many good deals recently, so my keeping up with them had been sporadic, anyway.
But this is good news. Good to hear something from them, even if it is from a third party. Don't know why they couldn't have posted something, in the Steam group, for instance. It's basic common sense to let people know when your site is down that you haven't disappeared completely with their products. Thanks for sharing, Devotee.

-Nods- This is a good point, especially for those games that are just downloads and don't come with a key.
Looks like they've still got some work to do. Their current deal of the day is "Error: Invalid game ID."

Thank you for the notice, this is a good reminder to back up some of my DRM-free purchases from there which I hadn't gotten around to yet.
It's a shame that the new ownership couldn't quite keep up the same spirit that was the old IGS. I enjoyed that shopfront quite a bit back when the PWYW deals were more enticing... there catalog was kind of a nice halfway point between the extreme (sometimes too strict) curation of GOG and the "anything goes" mentality of Desura/itch.io.

The first indicators I had of IGS' descent were:
IGS used to be a place that would highlight lots of hidden indie gems that people had yet to really discover, but at some point, they started to turn away from that.
Ever since those things started happening, some of which was long before the transfer to new ownership, I started to back off.
Since then, the ony thing I use IGS for, is to grab DRM-free games as demos for $0.25, before buying them on Steam.

Thanks for the heads up. Seems like I need to activate my keys and download my DRM-free games. I'm a shameless hoarder of unused games, but I'd still be a little bit sad if they all just disappeared.
Edit: Looks like a certificate problem and the web page doesn't show at all.

Thanks for the heads up; and thanks again to all the other helpful/informative posters here. Grabbing my keys now!

Yes, thanks for the tip. I really wish them well, but in the meantime I grabbed all of my Steam keys, just in case.

Smart. I wasn't on the ball with Desura. I got a fair amount of stuff out of Indie Royale at the very last minute, but not everything. Not like I'm hurting for games to play, mind you. But still.

Interesting... I had no idea it was sold. No wonder it has changed so much from what it used to be.
I just tried to download my games and it didn't work. When I click the download button the favicon on the tab blinks like as if it's doing something but then no download is started. Anyone else having this problem?

Looks like somebody fixed the right-hand sidebar where the PWYW error has been for a while. It now has some featured games listed, and a newsletter signup, although the PWYW box is gone (the newsletter dialogue does mention PWYW deals, though, so maybe a good idea to signup if you're not already).
Most of the download links still aren't working in my game wallet. Download boxes for soundtrack files pop up when clicked, although I haven't tested those links. But it appears somebody is still doing some kind of work on the site, at least.

This is actually EXTREMELY DISTURBING. I don't know how, but I found myself logged in with SOMEONE ELSE'S account. I can see his email and his personal information. It looks like a cookies issue (I logged with my own account about a week ago probably).
If you have any personal data (and if you can access it), REMOVE IT.
Also, please confirm if it is a common problem, I considered making a PSA but I'm not sure if it is just me.

Hey mate, thanks for letting me know,
this is in fact my account.
i'll contact IGS about it...

That is quite a disturbing security issue. What about their game wallet and keys? Were you able to see those? I'd be more concerned about that.
I just submitted a related ticket at indiegamestand.uservoice.com

I had full access to the account, game wallet with steam keys, drm free downloads and pretty much everything that is kept on the site. I just tested a key that has been already revealed and I could retrieve it, didn't check those that were unused/unrevealed.

Got a reply to my ticket:
Hi, thanks for your concern. This is already being addressed. We take privacy very seriously. Sorry for any inconvenience this caused you.
And regarding the issue with game downloads, it is also being checked by our technical team.
Thanks,
IGS Customer Support
For starters, one can only hope that they have a method to deauthorize all active logins and force everyone to sign in again. That doesn't fix the issue but it's the first thing I would have done.

Looks like they took the site down again, this time with a message: "Hello, if you're reading this, IGS is undergoing major upgrade. It's being migrated to a new server, so it's currently offline. We will reach out once this is fully fixed, via email"
Just to reiterate what others have said above, you can still use https://indiegamestand.uservoice.com/ to contact Customer Service.

To those who may not be aware, the original founders of the company sold it to a new owner some time ago and ever since then I have to say it has been run rather poorly. It has not been unusual for the revolving 'PWYW' deal to expire and then not get replaced by anything for days, or to simply get extended without warning, which screws with anyone who actually subscribed to their 'Elite' package or whatever. I've also noticed that the site has been down for a couple of days now. At first there was some sort of DNS problem with the provider that made it unreachable, and now there is a security issue regarding invalid certificates instead. Even if you add an exception the site loads but is essentially blank.
This kind of stuff and lack of reliability never used to happen under the previous ownership and it's future should certainly be questioned. I hope that you all backed up your keys and downloaded whatever you may have wanted (I did so recently for the most part) because given the evidence I have a sneaking suspicion that the site's days may be numbered. If it comes back up I would strongly recommend saving your purchases without procrastinating on it.
