Will you suggest me a game to beat (and maybe give away one day winkwink)?
Since you own second Portal - I suggest you to but first one and play both of them. They great, smart, funny and enjoyable. This is like golden classic of gaming.
And please, pretty please, give a shot to Psychonauts - it's really good game, with wildly creative worlds, light humor, fantastic characters and just great all around.
Another one - Bastion. Come on, you definitely heard all the praise it's gotten over this years, and it's all well-deserved. I don't even know how to promote it - no words could give it proper justice. Just pick it up while sale still going and play, it's very-very good!

I did play the first Portal! :D
It's just on another steam account that I lost total access to a long time ago. I must assume it was given away for free because back then I didn't buy games. I'm not sure I beat it though, so getting it again is a good idea. :) or maybe I should see if I can recover the account. That doesn't sound fun but why not? haha.
I won Portal 2 on SG yesterday which was exciting! My plan was to download it tomorrow on free wifi. I want to get someone the achievement for playing with someone new and then play some co-op. :3
I will have to try Psychonauts because the reviews are amazing haha. But I'm slightly worried I won't enjoy it since I didn't grow up playing games. Hopefully that is irrelevant and I enjoy it anyways.
I've thought about buying Bastion lots of times but I haven't yet. Perhaps when the backlog is smaller... I can't buy anything more this sale though, SG got the last of my budget. :P
Thanks for the suggestions. <3

If you not sure, then definitely play it again! About account - if there is more games that you would like play - then sure, it's worth at least to try
Congratulations on you win! ^_^ And wow, I didn't even knew about that achievement, so thanks for the info!
It IS irrelevant and you WILL enjoy it! Yeah, the graphic (especially in the cutscenes) is a little bit outdated, but it's not that noticeable or irritating. And there are some mods to improve that, if that'll bother you to much. But gameplay-wise it's still excellent and enjoyable! And unless you go for perfect score it's not hardcore. So I'm highly recommend to try it sometime ^_^
And bump for GAs ♥

Lifedreamer knows where it's at (and I think she read my mind!) :P
Since you've already played Portal, I needn't comment on much fun it packed into such a short game, but Psychonauts and Bastion are games that I just played within this past year, and they both just oozed with charm and are a joy to play. I'd highly recommend both! :D

Legend of Grimrock looks like lots of fun! I put it higher on my to download list <3
I think Amnesia must have been free? My memory is awful but there is no way I would buy such a scary game haha. Scary games are way too much for me.
Thanks for the suggestions. <3

I have the same problem :D and I love RPGs and hate them the same time, because I love exploring games and I must know every spot, every corner of map. And I am getting bored before I end it xD thanks for gifts ^^ happy birthday (lated) and happy new year ^^
Edit - about the game - maybe Brothers - A tale of two sons? Or Saints Row? XD

Thank you :) Happy new year.
I did beat Brothers a few times actually. I had it on PS3 and a friend gifted it to me on Steam. It's really good.
I'm not sure about Saints Row. It seems fun enough but I don't know if I would really enjoy it. Probably worth a try though. :) Thanks for the suggestions. <3

Now I think cool game for You can be A Story About My Uncle, it's not super long, sometimes hard but at first I should say -it's amazingly beautiful :) but I must warn You - achievements in this game are impossible to get :D and if You are into walking simulators I recommend You Dear Esther and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. And maybe Mind: Path to Thalamus :)

I'll definitely have to play Bastion one day. And transistor too. :)
I don't think Deponia is the kind of game I like unfortunately. Mostly because I know I wouldn't be able to beat it without a walkthrough. I didn't actually try to play yet though so I can't truly judge it yet haha.
Thank you for the suggestions. <3

Bastion is great, definitely need to play this one:). If you wish look Jotun too. I have it now because one great person and the game is just gorgeous, but is hard I am pretty sure will never get all achievements. :)
About Deponia I played it with beer in my hand and was great and is not so hard but it is so funny:)

Good luck! I used the steam group Completing The Backlog as the main source of my motivation.
I also kept track of my games on How Long To Beat because I really enjoy organizing I guess. And more recently True Steam Achievements came out of beta and that is a good source of motivation if you enjoy achievement hunting. :)
Sorry to plug all that haha! I felt like sharing. I hope you find a good source of motivation for yourself.

I have the same problem ;_; I start too many games then struggle to finish them.
Even worse, I sometimes get really close to the end and suddenly stop playing for no reason.

FTL or Unepic. Easily some of the best things I played during the last years.
PS : Child of light is nice with amazing visuals but too repetitive in terms of combat/grinding imo.

Etherlords and Hexcells are well worth playing through. Hexcells in particular has a tiny download so is a good choice when under a data cap.
For something new that you may be interested in I'll suggest Xcom 2 as you have played the original (original remake rather than original original...err yeah) and the new one promises to correct much of the errors they made the first time around. It's my first preorder in a long time it looks so good. It will be a big download though, the only downside.

Lovely. Thanks for the suggestions! <3
I played a few hours of xcom on the free weekend a while back because it was my friends favorite game. I enjoyed it well enough but it was a bit difficult. I only actually bought it fairly recently. I look forward to playing it more!
But I can't afford new AAA games anymore. They're up to $80 Canadian before tax. Luckily no tax on steam store though lol. So Xcom 2 will have to wait for a huge sale. :x

You are most welcome. I'd heard Canadian prices for games was getting a bit out of hand, didn't realise it was so bad though. My mate has just moved from England to Australia and is facing a similar problem over there. Hopefully companies will one day realise that not everyone has huge amounts of disposable cash and price more reasonably.

Valdis Story: Abyssal City; Great artstyle, combat is fun, story didn't really amaze me but it wasn't bad either. If you like metroidvanias I would highly recommend it, even though I personally gave up from it because I picked a difficulty that was a bit too frustrating for me and I'm not a fan of metroidvanias (having to remember where all the things you missed are so you can later come back and get them once you unlock new moves or items is annoying to me).
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale; Interesting little game where you have to manage you shop, delve into dungeons to get loot so you could then sell it in your shop with a goal of making enough money every week (or month, I don't remember) so the shop (which is also your house) doesn't get taken away from you due to depth your father left. I played it off-steam long time ago, was fun but I didn't end up beating it before I moved on to other games.
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee; This is my favorite platformer from my childhood. I'd say it's still one of the best platformers ever made, highly recommended even though you said you're not good at platformers.
Shadow Warrior Classic Redux; One of my favorite FPS games from my childhood. It still holds up well today, because it uses sprites. If you like FPS games and don't mind inappropriate and politically incorrect jokes then this one is a must-play. I like it more than the Shadow Warrior from 2013, which while graphically superior isn't as fun (but definitely wasn't as disappointing as Duke Nukem Forever).
You also have first two Witcher games, so you could play those. I've got both as well but I don't feel like playing them, because I want to start from the beginning which is Witcher 1 but I heard the combat in that game sucks (and it does seem awful from what I've seen in the videos).

Thank you for sharing so much. <3
Valdis Story looks pretty nice. But I'm 90% sure I haven't played a metroidvania before, so I don't know if I like they yet or not. Do you think it's a good start?
Recettear was fun for the short time I played it! But of course I stopped playing for no reason haha. I'll download it again.
I'm not sure about Oddworld but if I ever feel like a platformer I'll check it out. :)
The Witcher games are something I'm looking forward too. But the investment time of RPG's is a lot and there is just sooo many RPGs. Hopefully one day soon haha.

I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be a good start. Metroidvania's aren't for everyone though. They're made in a way that you'll have to back-track a lot and you'll need good memory to remember where certain things you missed due to not being able to access them previously are.
For example lets say you found a chest but it's too high up and you can't reach it. Later you will get some special item or skill that will allow you to reach it. Or you might find doors that are either locked or blocked by a barrier and somewhere later in the game you'll find a key or means to remove the barrier, then you'll have to go back to the door and access it to continue further.
Now that I think about it, Recettear is pretty repetitive, so I guess that's why we both simply stopped playing it.

I'd suggest Deus Ex: Human Revolution if you like first person shooter/stealth rpg games. When I started playing it, I just couldn't stop playing. The game is very immersive, with many missions and explorable urban areas with secrets and secondary quests. My first playthrough took me about 40 hours (exloring as much as I could).
The story is great, as is the soundtrack. Every area (including boss fights) is designed so you can complete it following your favourite playstyle, and you can upgrade the character according to that. There are a lot of achievements and it took me more than 100 hours to get them all.
The game is on sale on Steam but it's 75% off now, maybe you can find better deals, but it's definitely worth every cent if you ask me. The trailer on that page is the one for the Director's Cut edition, maybe you want to check the original trailer out too.
Thank you for the giveaways and congratulations on beating so many games!

I really struggle with actually beating games. I often only play the beginning, but last year I made a bit of an effort to beat more games!
This went well as I beat 28 games. Mostly short ones mind you, but I beat them none the less.
I decided I want to share with you guys some of the games that I beat + enjoyed. I'll update this thread over time with more giveaways.
Good luck and enjoy!
