Hi All

I joined Steamgifts.com because I have a bunch of steam keys from bundles that I don't want and after offering around to my friends some are still sitting in various store accounts. When I found the site I thought this was a great way to give them away to people who actually want to play the games. This also means I can feel far less guilty buying bundles with only a couple of wishlisted games in them <evilgrin>. Bonus, I can enter giveaways for games on my wishlist! So far so fine :D

What I'm a little confused about is 'free' games. I have a steam key for Bloop which was free from Indiegala for awhile but I don't think I want it now and want to give it away. I don't understand if this is allowed or not. Can someone please explain? And if it's not OK to use it in a 'giveaway' any suggestions on other methods for giving it away?

I also have a key for Lucius (already in my library) for spending over a certain amount on the Indiegala Store - does this now count a 'free' game as I didn't actually spend money directly on it? Or is it still OK to put in a giveaway because money was still exchanged?

Clarification on these points is much appreciated! (Yes I read the FAQs)

On the Create Giveaway if you don't see your specified game on the list, it's either Steam API bug(least likely) or it was given for free. If it was free for bulk, you can't give it away. Most of your other questions probably also answered in FAQ

Unless it just went free and mods haven't had the time to add it yet.

Free games are not allowed to be given away here because they were already given away in a massive amount and the site doesn't want the spam of levels and giveaways from it.

You can't giveaway games that have been given away in large free giveaways. Does not matter how you got it or if you already have a copy.

You can give keys that you got for free, say for a purchase bonus. So there's no problem with the Lucious giveaway.

The general rule is: if you can pick the game in a create a giveaway page, it's kosher. If it's not there, then most people just dump them in the forums.

Welcome to Steamgifts, metyGAME! ^^

  1. As already answered, when going to the giveaway creation page, if the game is missing from the list, then it is considered a "free" or exploited game and cannot be given away.
  2. Other ways to give away games which cannot be given away using the usual Steamgifts giveaway method, is dropping the key/link on the forum for some random user to redeem it.
  3. Lucius is fine, since it wasn't given away massively.
  4. All you need to know about points is included in the FAQ. You might have to review the section about points carefully and perhaps a few times to fully understand the system.

Hope that covers it all. If you have any other questions, just ask. Cheers!
