So is it running smooth on PC or is it like any rockstars games...Bad port running like shit?

Wot m8 ? Rockstar games are bad ports ? ... The only bad thing about a Rockstar game is the social shit account. And although I haven't tried it myself, but my close sources say that it's the best GTA V yet to be made. While on the other hand... lots of people encountered countless problems/crashes .... So, I don't think "bad port running like shit" is a true statement, yet still it's not so smooth on all of the machines... So, dunno.

Why is that ?

because even good computers had problems with running this game, it was so poorly optimised

I used to play GTA IV on Pentium 4 HT and a GeForce 9400 GT :v ... problems seem to accompany every game nowadays. But what's important is the percentage of people playing the game smoothly with no problems compared with the percentage of people having crashes/problems and whether their PCs are the cause of the problem or some clumsy un-finished work caused by lazy devs. Because in the end, you can't just have a 100% brilliantly made game which satisfies everyone.

GTA V runs like very very good. It doesn't even heats the GPU like Saints Row games do for example.

GTA V is an example of how PC games need to be optimized, but there a few ppl, with GTX 980 and GTX 970 cards who have problems as they say, but these problems are particular.

Rockstar are world famous for their poor ports, but this seems to be a an exception.

Lots of options in the settings menu, and it's running smoothly for me at 1920 x 1200 with pretty much all of the options turned up nice and high :)

I have zero interest in the series. (I hate driving in games!)

Buuut my husband beat it on console, and then bought it again for Steam and is currently playing it...it looks pretty...?

EDIT: He couldn't drive with a mouse and keyboard, so he hooked up a controller to do the driving parts with.

Uhm, excuse the question .. why is your husband buying the same game twice???

Because he enjoyed it a lot on the console, and wanted to support the game and play it again. He also hated the multiplayer with the controller (and having to pay for microsoft gold), and wanted to play it on PC.

I always play sandbox games with a controller, even on PC. Driving with a keyboard and mouse is just a chore!

I actually prefer driving/racing on the keyborad :v I just hate how few buttons controllers have on them .... I like buttons ....

I can't afford it as a poor student. Remember buying the original for pc, when it came out in 1997, along with my Creative Labs Sound Blaster AWE 64 gold.

That seems like a nice sound card, and yeah I know that feeling ... I can't afford a PC that is capable of running it :v

It was, but way too overkill for my need then xD No Integrated soundcards in motherboards back then. My 3D Graphics Card, was an add in Card, that still needed a dedicated 2D Card. So on the back a cable went out of the 2D Card, an into the 3D Card, and then out from the 3d Card an into the monitor. Fun times!

Very nice and fun to play. I can run it even from my laptop tough my fps is not too good. Still very playable.

Unfortunately my SSD is full with Elder Scrolls Online so I had to instal it on an external HDD usb 3.0 :P Works prety good but If i'm driving very fast through towns the textures start disappearing. :P

So far I'm very impressed. The game looks incredible and runs very smooth. There is so much detail in the game world. Single player and online both work well. First person mode is a nice change. I highly recommend the game to anyone thinking about getting it.

I'll play once the hype is over.

I'm only interested in the story anyways, just like the other GTA's.
