ss3 was in a bundle + coupons every where. its prabably a bad offer.
that being said
1)space marines hasn't been on sale for a bit (tradeable all dried up at the moment)
2)torchlight2 is very unlikly do it being worth more. even with coupon vs the 4pack
3)Bioshock 2 this is doable with all the bioshocks around right now but only peoplefrom grenman i think got bio2 from bio infinity but it was also on sale for $5 less than the coupon (nonrussian) price.

Lool of course I would bother, I've read every post xD

Yeah the game I'm trying to trade hasn't been in any bundle and is a £30 game ($40)

Well obviously, everything's been on sale at one point, but the thing is, so have the games on my wishlist, and I'm not even necessarily asking for the most expensive ones on there, even though those don't exceed the game I'm offering, in price

It was in a bundle? That I actually didn't know lol, when was this?

In that case: What c00lizz said.
The game was very often on sale,it had coupons and then the bundle...if you get the value of the bundle it would already be a good deal. If you want more be patient and try hard, but dont expect too much. Bioshock had a lot of cheap sales, you might want to try to grab that, but won't be easy.

Games are valued at lowest sale price. And then the price and desirability only goes down from there depending on sales elsewhere, price bugs, bundles, etc.
The only time a game will actually be valued higher than it's lowest sale price is if it has been removed from the steam store and you can't buy keys elsewhere.
That taken into consideration I don't really have much problems with "lowballers" on steamtrades or anywhere else, sure it gets bad during a promotion(The 90% off coupons for Death Rally for example) but those aren't the majority, and even the DOTA2 offers are slowly down now that more and more people know about the DOTA2Dispenser.

I don't know, the one trade I made was fair on both sides- $10 game previously in bundle for another $10 game previously in bundle.

It is not impossible, I have gotten amazing deals trading on Steam trades. I began with only a 5 dollar groupees bundle and without spending any more money and just trading and retrading I ended up with over $400 worth of game trades in the last month. Alot of AAA titles as well. Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs, Max Payne 3, Tomb Raider, Spec Ops, Daksiders 2, Res Evil 5, and others. You just have to be smart about your trades and such, know the value of your games.
Also you can try selling on TF2outpost.com that is extreme lowball territory though.

Hmm, I thought I was being reasonable but idk, I've given up on trading that game, do you by any chance know how much it would add to my contributor value on here IF I were to give it away? I'm currently at $39.98 and this game is listed as a bundle

I'm not gonna lie, that is my reason (even though I didn't get the voucher from there but from a friend, I had no idea how he obtained it) but reaaaaallly the games I asked for in return have also been on sale, so my offer wasn't unfair was it? It's not like I was asking for Bioshock Infinite or Far Cry 3

Hell, I honestly don't care about price when I trade. So long as both me and the person I'm trading with get games we both want to play (or trade), I could care less about lowballs and other such nonsense.

Please elaborate, especially after Bioshock 2 was available for free with almost every Bioshock Infinite pre-order, Torchlight 2 is on sale as we speak, and Space Marine has also been on sale a few times

Really and truly, Bioshock 2 is also worthless though since it's been available on so many sales and even for free with pre-orders, so even if SS3 is worthless, that still makes it equal to at least Bioshock 2 :P

They didn't really get it for free... they still spent $60 on Infinite and probably took into account the value of the extra games before making the pre-order purchase.

From my experience, I've found it's a matter of luck, timing and above all, patience. It's happened many times to me that somebody made an initial low offer, I refused, they raised, and so on and either I got a very good deal in the end, or more interestingly, some third guy saw what was happening and comes with a jaw-droppingly good offer that dwarfs the original bidder. Bundle games are generally a hard sell though.

You need to get patience mate, sometimes it needs a little more time. In the last month, made a huge profit in SteamTrades, it just takes time and patience as well.
Btw, your offer is a bit unbalanced (SS3 is now a bundle game). You probably won't get lucky doing that trade, just saying.

There are a lot of good trades to be made, but you have to realize that not everyone has the game you want or are interested in what you have to offer. Sometimes I had to do 2-3 trades before I got what I actually wanted out of it.
As for the offer you mentioned up there:

Fair enough, I've now just put it on trade for "offers" so I'm just gonna see what I can get out of that

Don't be surprised at the amount of lowballs you're gonna get. Whatever you're offering, there are always people trying to get it for a key they got for free somewhere.

Yeah so far, killing floor from humblebundle, and tiny & big

So yeah...it seems you can never actually get a good trade on that site...what's up with that...when I specifically ask for something from my wishlist in return, why do I get offered everything except games from my wishlist...
Edit: lemme just let you know what my offer was (again not trying to actually trade here but so you can judge if I'm being reasonable/unreasonable)
What I'm trying to trade is Serious Sam 3 BFE, and what I wanted in return was Warhammer 40k: space marine, Torchlight 2 or Bioshock 2
As you can see, even the games I wanted in return have been on sale and don't have a particularly high value either
Edit 2: Well I'm tired, I'm just gonna give it away on this site instead... wait, what would that even do to my contributor value, I'm currently at $39.98 and the game is listed as a bundle game
Edit 3: I'm trying one last time to trade it, now it's just up for "offers" so yeah, wish me luck xD
