Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

I don't think that's a good criteria. The state of a game is the developer's business. Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor was a very well optimized game and more or less bug-free, right from release. You can watch Total Biscuit's video if you don't believe me. It too was a triple A game published by Warner Bros.and there were little to no problems with it technically. So what's the difference between it and those two game you mentioned? It was made by Monolith, a company that is not in the habit of insulting paying customers by releasing games in horrible states like Netherrealm and Rocksteady seem to do lately... So the most you can accuse Warner Brothers of is not holding a tight leash on their business partners or being greedy douche-bags that don't actually care about the game's functionality on release, only about the piles of cash that they'll get from it.

So if the game's developer, Avalanche is one you feel you can trust, based on past history or whatever, I don't think you should have any concerns for the game turning into an Arkham Knight proportions fiasco. I still wouldn't recommend you to pre-order it, cause pre-orders, in general, are a stupid concept, but there you go...

The publisher is supposed to oversee the quality of the product. I have no faith in Warner Bros to do this. Shadow of Mordor was a highly optimized game, but that's to Monolith's credit like you said. I haven't really researched Avalanche, but I also can't help that I have a knee jerk reaction to seeing Warner Bros as the publisher either.

Oh, don't get me wrong, far be it from me to defend WB... I mean, you did get the part where I said it's a company of douche-bags that don't actually care for the quality of the product, just for the humongous piles of money it gets them, did you not? All I said is that if the developer is a serious and competent one (like Rocksteady and Netherrealm seem to downright refuse to be) the final product will most likely turn out great, DESPITE having Warner Ass-holes at the helm. Yeah, Warner sucks for not checking the quality of the product, but should we really put all the blame on them and excuse Rocksteady? Nope... Cause let's not forget, that the previous 2 Arkham games they made were pretty fucking bad on release too (although not to this degree of a catastrophe), so they didn't even make an effort to improve themselves...

You're right, I guess we just have reputations to go on at this point and I don't know much about Avalanche. Warner Bros did mention that they changed their quality assurance as a result of the the latest disasters, so I that leaves me a little optimistic. I guess it won't really matter if the game turns out to be bad, but at least it will be a bad game that runs ok :) Either way, I think we both agree that pre-ordering is bad and I'll see how this turns out when it releases.

Game looks great, but then so did Sim City, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Watchdogs, Aliens Colonial Marines and Arkham Knight (just to name a few) and we all know how they ended up just after launch.

Pre-ordering is dumb

But I have my fingers crossed that it will actually be a decent game.
