So here is the quote from the FAQ:
"Keep in mind that changes to the list of bundle games will apply retroactively, so if a bundle begins today, attempting to gift the game before it's added to the list will offer no advantage. Games may also be added to the bundle list if they're available for free during a promotion, or if they're highly discounted in a sale."

Does this mean that if I give away a $10 game, I get the relative 10CV.
then 2 years in the future that game gets added to the bundle list.

based on that quote, I would then have 6.5CV removed from my account?
I'm just hoping that such a flaw has already been addressed by excluding giveaways used prior to the sale/bundle event?

Some people seem to know very detailed information regarding this system though as hard as I try I just can't find any new documentation outside the FAQ.

Thanks to anyone who can clarify things for me.

Bill

It means that if you make a giveaway for a game after it was bundled but before it was added to the site's bundle list the CV will be removed, not for giveaways before the game was bundled.

You got it wrong, it aplies from the day the game got bundled.
It just says that in the case that the game got added a few days later to the list, every giveaway from the date it was bundled onwards will be affected.

If you give away a game before it ever appears at a bundle-level price (in a bundle or 95%+ off across all regions), you will always get full CV for it (which will only drop due to changes in the Steam store price.)

Keep in mind, games may be added to the bundle list retroactively, so check pricing to be sure it's not 95% or more off somewhere in the world.

Thanks for the information guys, I see I overlooked the keyword "today", is there a definitive discount % which results in the bundle classification like 95% as Tzaar referenced?

ie. if the game was only discounted 94%(1% below the relative cut-off) could I be confident that nothing will happen?

Thanks again for taking the time to help me wrap my mind around this system.

no :3
it's up to the bundler to decide if titles around -95% are bundled. he more closer to this threshold, the bigger chance to have it bundled.

by the bundler you mean a homosapien behind the steamgifts.com domain or do you mean the person who makes the bundles?

The 95% thing is more like a general guideline. Also, Russian regional prices are calculated against the US one, so a 75-80% discount means 94-98% for the Russian price (because, apparently, they are a poorer country than any in Central Africa who have to pay US prices), so an immediate trip to the bundle list.

oh yea I forgot to ask about that, because no one can legitimately use russian games anyway so I had hoped they were not monitored, I absolutely hate how they get games cheap coz they r poor, ill burn my wallet and ask for free games.

Russia has a culture of not paying for software. Anything is better than nothing.
