Oi wei, lucky me bought PC 2 Deluxe on last GMG summer sale. Thanks for keeping us in the loop still no notification on Steam store page - lame.

I didn't really plan on playing them, but I kind of hope for a good sale on it, it looks stunning - though my last racing game was Revolt I think :D

OG Project Cars may still remain playable for people who haven't bought it due to EA Play (the game was published by Codemasters which is owned by EA).

Oh man I'm glad I picked up both on sale not too long ago.

For anyone looking to get Project CARS 2, Green Man Gaming has it and the Deluxe version at 93% off right now. It's possible that this sale is regional, so YMMV.

Project CARS 2 $4.22
Project CARS 2 Deluxe Edition $6.34

The only DLC missing is Project CARS 2 Japanese Cars Bonus Pack, hopefully it goes on sale before the removal.

Edit: Missed that the Season Pass was also on sale at 78% ($6.60) for those who already have the base game.

Season pass is more expensive than the deluxe edition, makes no sense.

Yeah, like what is that supposed to be. Seems like a middle finger to anyone who already owns the game. :/

The Deluxe Edition is $6.02 if you apply the 5% discount from the August XP Bonus Pack.

It's advisable to check the GMG wallet for leftover credit. I had $0.18 credit in my wallet so my intermediary price was $5.84.
Strangely enough, $5.84 translated into €6.07 on PayPal's page :)

Never use PayPal to do the currency conversion, they are crazy expensive, as you found out. Best is to charge in USD and let the conversion be done on your credit card (if you're using one).

Solid advice. They have a ridiculous exchange rate.

"expiring car and track licenses" :(

Same reason all the F1 games keep being removed eventually

I used to care about this sort of thing. But it's a lost battle and, to be honest, they won't be missed.

I do find it a little strange that Project Cars 2 is being removed from sale first before the original, but my guess is that it has something to do with the publishing rights of Bandai Namco expiring for that game(Project Cars 1 is currently self published by the dev team). It just might be easier for the dev team to remove it from sale when that ends rather than to have to go through the process twice.

These licensing deals are ridiculously short. I mean, you don't see movies being pulled off the market because someone was drinking a Coke or driving a certain car.

Thanks for the heads up. I have PC1 and PC3 in my library from various bundles. I had keys from bundles for PC2 but never kept it cause it did not have cards like 1 and 3 did. I grabbed a copy from GMG just in case they suddenly release cards for it before removing it. At worse, I can trade it away give-it-away.

Hi guys, I know that the game Project Cars 1 both the standard and GOTY versions are on sale on Steam.
But could you tell me any other legitimate site that is on sale to buy the Project Cars 1 GOTY version? :D

(I remember that a few months ago a lot of people bought GOTY keys from Fanatical that they had a very good and cheap promotion... unfortunately I couldn't enjoy :/ )

Good income for them with all the sold copies of the last weeks, after the "will be removed" message :-D

According to a few people even though it has been more then 14+ days since they bought it on Steam, they were successful in geting a refund and then buying it at the discounted rate (since it never went on sale before the "takedown").

The reason it was supposed to be removed was due to some of the car and track licenses expiring. My guess is the licenses were renewed and that's why it never got delisted. If they did end up getting the licenses again, I wonder if they may be working to getting the ones for Project Cars 2 back.

Noob question here, why removed from store making people interested in buying? I mean I try to use logic, but the game is still the same, if don't like it, the game being removed didn't change my intention.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That has nothing to do with the mentality behind it.
People wait for sales, for lower discounts but are still interested on a steep discount.
Interested in the game but reading that it gets removed triggers the point of: "Hm might as well get it before I can't anymore".

People buy it because they atleast have a slight interest in it with the background of not being able to get it anymore.
People who are not interested will obviously not buy.

And then there's that niche of collectors and preservers.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah but they buy games simply because of buying and collecting and not because if interest in the game itself. They want to collect, not try to be a fan or anything about the game / franchise.
But yeah they exist.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah but they are exactly the ones that might become interested in buying a game by it being removed from Steam, which is what the original question was about.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ah I see, so it's like giving the last push for people that have a bit interest in the game, or Collectors. I'm neither of those so I can't understand, Thanks!

cute profile pic (is it from something?) - it's because people might still like to get any cards/ achievements the games have to offer - the same reason why people buy bundles - not everyone can or will pay top prices for games all the time and sometimes choice's are needed to where to spend money and not just on games - also with the higher chance of a bigger final sale 50% off or more to get the last amount of money out of the game/dlc they can before it goes - it give people a chance to get it at a faction of the price

Comment has been collapsed.

Thanks, main female character from anime Saekano. Yeah I get that people want cheapest price, but I see on some occasion the trigger to buy the game is "being removed from Steam after this moment" instead of "lowest price ever".

Just because someone doesn't buy at first doesn't mean there's not an interest in the game. Zalore and Waxworm summed it up pretty well.

Another reason it sometimes happens is people like to support the devs or publisher.
