Which monitor is better?
"gaming monitor"
WTF, my TV is 32" and it's great for gaming and it was 1/4 of that price.
Also, my laptop was about the price of that monitor.
People in the US and Western Europe have tons of money and free time... Don't say I am jealous, because I truly am...

The only keyboard type I've tried I disdain is the membrane keyboard. No key spacing whatsoever so you basically need lighting to feel where everything is. Rubber dome and mechanical are perfectly spaced usually so I can be in pitch black and know where and what every key is. (Moslty Rubber dome. Used Rubber dome keyboards since I was 4. They're as loud as a mechanical too which is kinda funny.)
And true but paying hundreds of dollars more for some lighting and a couple of macros? Seems like a waste to me. Give me a good working non-membrane keyboard with adequate key spacing and I am happy. My rubber dome Dell has lasted me almost 15 years so far, I don't think any gaming keyboard could boast that.

well these monitors I'm interested in are definately much better than the regular monitors :P

The 1 ms response rate on the ASUS and the 144Hz is where I can definitely see an advantage. But I dunno. The price and the size are what would turn me away. My 1600x900 monitor is too wide for me tbh. I don't know how people even use 1920x1080 monitors XD. I could never keep track of the whole screen.

tv have higher refresh rates and higher input lags, plus those monitor's price is a bit inflated due to the g-sync module. Plus usually they have high quality panels and backlighting, you need to compare them to a high end tv, it's not the size, it's about how you use it :D

Well, I also have a 20-something inch TV with the same resolution as my laptop, and I definitely noticed the TV is always a frame or two behind the laptop screen, I even made a video and a python script to make sure. It was noticeable to the eye, the games in my library loaded and you could notice the icon showed up just a frame after on the TV (it was set to duplicate btw).
Even like that, if the response time on the screen influences your gaming, you should be a race driver (I'm serious).
Also, since my GPU doesn't support gsync and I can't get over 60 fps for that 144Hz, I see no influence. One of the TVs is LCD LED and it looks freaking epic, the other one is an IPS LED, it looks even better, but it is only 1366*768. They are both the cheapest in the LED category (that was pretty much the only criteria we bought them for, because LED-backlight is freaking epic and they can be viewed on any angle without any difference).
TL;DR: The only difference between a 200$ TV and a 1000$ monitor is the response time. And if that makes a difference to you, be a race driver. (unless you can handle 144 fps, good for you then)
PS: resolution is not a factor for most big screen TVs/monitors, 720p looks the same as 1080p when going more than 1 meter away from the screen (unless you should be a sniper, good for you then; or you play with the nose in the 27" "monitor", say goodbye to your neck then)

when they say "gaming" they mean "competetive gaming" and they think "FPS competetive gaming". Less latency, better contrast, less blur, better viewing angles... (maybe?), higher dpi... That sort of thing. Stuff that gives you 1-5ms better reaction time :)

you underestimate "pro" aka hobbyist skills!
Also a racing career is far more expensive...
I meant it's like 1-5ms reaction time + your reaction time. If you take 10ms to react, it will be 23ms with 13ms latency of monitor.
But in all seriousness I think I kinda agree with you. In the sense that there's no reason to buy such expensive monitors (or other PC peripherals) if you're absolutely sure you're in top 10 players of whatever.

Acer it's slightly better, it's IPS, so better color and angle view, Asus have Nvidia 3D vision.
Imho best thing to do it's read the 2 review on tftcentral:

I know they're big monitors. I'm using a "normal" 23" monitor atm and would like to upgrade it to a monitor with g-sync. As I have a gtx 970 and I'm gonna upgrade it to a 2way sli (meaning 2 gtx970) I would want a monitor that can show me and support almost to 100% what my graphic cards can handle. Hope I made it clear with that

800$ ?!?! lol.
How about buying a normal 23 inch monitor for 200 and Oculus Rift + Controller + VR games for that price?

I would be curious why you want an 2560 x 1440 screen and also why you need 144hz.
The hz well unless you are kinda used to 144 hz I dont see you really having issues with 60hz.
If I would have to choose between these monitors I would choose the ASUS one, less respond time, same resolution, same hz, cheaper (currently).
I never owned any of these 2 so I can not say if there are any issues.

There`s a comparison between these two model here
Last sentence says :
Purely in terms of gaming, the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q is the outright winner. It's ultra-responsive panel benefits from everything G-SYNC has to offer, and the design and finish are pretty individual, too. If you have eyes only for gaming and couldn't care less about other monitor uses, then this is the screen for you.
Distinguished by its IPS panel, the Acer XB270HU still performs admirably in the gaming department, thanks to its unparalleled responsiveness for a display of this type. Even the most hard-core gamers will appreciate this monitor; however, the XB270HU's skills aren't limited to gaming, so, if you're after something a little more well-rounded, the XB270HU is your man.

good point. But the mobility on this one is pretty good. And I give Acer the credit for trying something new(and even Asus is copying what Acer is doing with this kind of monitors). I'm only asking here on the forum to make sure I won't be screwing up with the Acer monitor :P

As I have pretty no knowledge about todays gaming monitors I'm coming to the steamgifts forum to seek help to choose between 2 monitors that I think are good. The two are:
Acer XB270HU bprz 27-inch WQHD NVIDIA G-SYNC
ASUS PG278Q ROG Swift 27-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor
I would appreciate if someone with know-how about this things could help :P
P.S. I tend to buy the Acer XB270HU one.
EDIT: I get it, they're not cheap :/
EDIT2: So I'll probably gonna go with the Acer monitor. Thanks for the help
