If a movie doesn't use it, it's not complete.

It's in pretty much everything, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and hundreds of other movies/games/Tv-shows.

There was a (very underrated) TV show on ABC Family many years ago, "The Middleman." Kind of a weird, over-the-top, Men-in-Black-meets-superheroes show. They snuck a Wilhelm Scream into every single episode.

Goddamn, I hate that channel for cancelling such a fantastic show.

It's fun to recognize the Wilhelm Scream in a movie. But it's gotten to the point where the novelty of it completely throws off the atmosphere of the movie. It's everywhere now. It's more distracting than fun, unfortunately.

Slightly off topic, but I wish more people would care about quality sound design in games/ movies/ TV shows.

It's like everybody buys the same sound package and nobody ever records new sound anymore. Also voice always sounds like a studio, no matter the location in video. At least do something to the studio sound to change it for location.

Why do we keep using it? It really only works in funny movies, everywhere else it just seems out of place.
