As a moderator, if it's his first offense, I would delete the giveaway and give him a warning. (No real punishment.) If he commits a second offense, ban his IP address from even accessing the site (the mods can do that surely).
Everyone deserves a second chance, (even if they're up to no good), but no one deserves a third. People need to be made examples of in order to deter any further "forbidden activity".

A slap on the wrist would still be necessary, imo. A not-received "negative rep" would be enough to constantly remind him to be more careful in the future without being too harsh.
By doing nothing at all you're practically leaving the deceived winner of the fake giveaway with a bitter taste in his mouth and a sense of injustice.
Oh well, thank goodness I've never been (and probably never will be) a mod :)

Well, a verbal warning and a clean slate might appeal to some people. If they made a genuine mistake I mean. I don't like the idea of punishing someone who wasn't aware or simply made a mistake. People who create intentional fake giveaways, you can ban them from the very start if you have proof.
I'm glad I'm not a mod either :S

Posted a while ago about winning a scammers fake giveaway, where he tried to give away DISCOUNT coupons instead of games, and told me that he was 'allowed to'. someone finally responded to my report, and just 'deleted' the giveaway.
the guy doesnt even get a not-recieved marked against his name, so he basically just gets away with scamming? i mean whats the point? i thought a harder line would be taken against these people, not a softer one. and yeah, i guess it is sour grapes, i admit it. its not that i didnt get a game, its that once again a attempted exploiter has managed to dodge a bullet and have no punishment. is no one else here even slightly... irked... at that outcome?
so yeah. whats the point. why even report if theyre free to do this stuff again? i would have thought at the VERY least, if no punishment, that an exploiter would atleast have non-recieved marked against his name...
