Admit it: you were about to press the Buy button, then you saw the price...
Never played Destiny 2, for the $20 tier, would this be worth it? I've heard good things about it but not sure.

I'm one of those guys that spent way too much time with this game, the long story short here is that NO.
STAY AWAY.
Bungie does not diserve any of your money, let them burn. I hate Sony since late ps4 gen (greed, anti consumer tactics) but i applaud them for turning things upside down with Bungie, f*ck them all. Greedy ass studio. They were once part of activision and used activision as the culprit for all the greed that was cemented into Destiny 2, funny because they continued to elaborate on the greed after they parted ways, i would even dare say they were better off with activision than they were on their own.
If you do ignore my words and still go for it, at least have the decency of adjusting the value and not give them any money. Seriously. Or use "other stores" online to get it even cheaper than the bundle.
Long story of why you should stay the F away from Bungie and their games since D2 launch:
I've been playing Destiny since the beta days from ps4, paid for every single expansion and dlc usually before launch. So i know the track record behind bungie and their greed. Destiny 1 on console was one hell of a game, i would dare say it was almost perfect, it had flaws obviously, but the game ended on a good note. Destiny 2 had a shaky start, they made forsaken expansion, which was a top tier expansion quality-wise. Then shadowkeep drops, which was a reskin of a D1 area but sold as an expasion for D2 with new plot... D2 base game also reused a lot of assets from the first game, while also being extra predatory with MTX, MTX got more aggressive over the years, along with the pricing scheme they made. You are paying 2x or more for the content nowadays when compared to D1 expansions.
After shadowkeep, which was probably the worst expansion... came beyond light, a good expansion storywise but added a lot of bad stuff to the game nobody asked for, DCV (Destiny content vault, which killed older storylines and removed locations off the game, so new players join in without having a clue about the past, unless they check youtube lore videos, it is like watching an anime where they have the first 2 seasons of the game and force you to start in season 3 onwards in terms of storyline), sunset gear (all gear from a specific time frame in the game was made obsolete and only works for a small portion of content). DCV's real purpose was to remove content so they could reuse the assets later on and sell them again for the consumer base. A good portion of the seasonal stuff the game throws at us is reskinned assets removed from the game previously. Bungie has been known since D1 era to cut corners, from cutting existing content from the base game to then resell as dlc content, to reusing assets to then reskin and rerelease them.
After beyond light came the witch queen, which was considered the best expansion of all times by most people, but lo and behold, they cut content from the witch queen to resell later in lightfall expansion (lightfall serves no purpose story wise, it's like they decided to create a filler episode to focus on the final shape expansion). If Witch queen was the best expansion even with cut content, imagine what it could have been if it was complete. One of the major things that got cut from the witch queen, was the newest subclass called strand.
Lightfall came about and everything went south, storyline made progress but the plot in this expansion was just bad, it felt really rushed and silly, it's like the equivalent to game of thrones when they decided to rush the show... making it inconsistent and very wtf'ish.
The final shape is the one expansion people wanted in the place of lightfall, considering the sh*t position bungie is in, and considering the extra time they had here to make the expansion, it will likely be on the same quality tier as the witch queen. The thing is that majority of the playerbase got tired of bungie and their BS, hence the negative reviews across all content. Pre-lightfall, only shadowkeep had negative reviews overall, AFAIK. Beyond light was mixed, forsaken and witch queen were positive.
Also forsaken got butchered, it is no longer an expansion. It is a pack because they killed the storyline there aswell. So you are left with like half the content, maybe less than half... They introduced DCV with the idea that "game was too big and too confusing, causing technical issues going forward" for developers to handle. Some years later, they said they overcame the struggles that introduced DCV (complete BS, as i stated, they removed content to have assets longterm to be reused again for future new content, saving them money). while they made this statement, they butcheted forsaken and said it was the last piece of content to be removed, i mean... if they figured out how to overcome the previous struggle, why would they still butcher forsaken expansion and remove half the content it had to offer. And still have the audacity of selling it as a pack when it should have been made free. Each expansion has its annual season pass, they usually remove 90% the content season passes introduce, leaving behind only gear and at times an activity or mission, annual pass has seasons, each season has a battlepass, the stuff in the battlepass that is cosmetic, gets removed and is usually not accessible anymore. Actual gear gets added to the game one way or another.
The good about this game:
-gameplay (if you like cod'esque type of gameplay but more annoying in general)
-lore (as an old player, the lore is great, for new players, you are screwed because content was removed and you would still have to play D1 on consoles)
-it can offer a good "bang for your buck", the issue is that you can grow attached to this game and then end up in a seriously unhealthy relationship with the game, so to say. This is all down to Bungie being very bad studio, like activision levels of bad/greed.
If you want to appreciate Bungie's work, try and play Destiny 1 instead. Or any of the older games, Halo franchise is a much better investment IMHO. Storywise Halo is superior, there is no cut content in terms of storyline, Halo is just failing to meet evolution standards, this is why it lacks popularity in the bigger picture.

I always wanted to try Destiny 2 to see what is about... Your comment told me exaclty why I shouldn't. Thanks!

I would have gotten it if I could play it from start to end as a single player game just for the story but you can't so why even bother. I had the game on bnet due to the humble bundle key years back and at least at that time you could play the base game... which I did up to a point never finished it but the fact you can't play the game you owned.. live service is a joke.

I played the game a little bit and it's kinda fun, but the negative reviews on these dlc's, meh... would it worth it? It's not cheap at all

You know I would have never bought this game, Destiny (1). But my brother did, I played the whole campaign. It was a game with with decent gunplay but the rest was in barebones. I couldn't believe the producers had millions, I said "they must have spent them primarily on advertisements". You could see it had some good things but some other ones were made incorrectly. The game had very little or almost no essence. Then the DLCs came, which I decided not buy.
After some years, the first game, which was going to be "definitive" and was going to "last 10 years alive" died. They came with Destiny 2, I decided not buy it. After that they gave the base game for free, and started milking the players who liked the game with annual DLCs or so. After some time they had to delete some content "because we can't fit all the content we have created". Epic even gave away a DLC or so. I was at a friend's house one day, and we were 3 friends, we played a little bit in coop.
I have never touched it again, I am not saying it is a bad game, but the marketing method doesn't attract me. I want just normal content, not cosmetics and this type of grinding. I have no time for games as a service like this (in the remote case I would have time for one like that). But if you don't know what Destiny is, I would advice you to get informed before stepping in.

Ah, something to rebalance the recent good bundles we've been having. Hard pass.

Not only is this DLC way too expensive, but Bungie and their past behavior will never make me buy anything from them before.
Examples:

Cheaper, less time investment and probably more sustainable: The Story So Far - Light Year.

This is an abomination and nobody should support such a business model.

Another case of "So it’s about feeling comfortable with not owning your game", you know... is like you buy but "we're going to adopt a new content model that we're calling the Destiny Content Vault (DCV). Each year, usually at the expansion boundaries, we will cycle some destination and activity content out of the game (and into the DCV) to make room for new experiences"

Thats for the context I forgot how money hungry this game even with them removing content but playing through which queen is kinda decent everything after just feels lackluster>>>
