Anthymn Kickstarter

From what I can tell, it's going to be an MMORPG where you learn about music, how to play music, and how to compose music with others. It's going to have different countries for different types of music, like punk and orchestral music have their own countries.

The premise in this game is that there are many countries at war, and a hero is trying to unite all the countries by composing the national anthem, or anthymn in this case. There will be battles and learning and music to be done.

Sounds like a really cool idea, and it seems like a great idea to create an environment where players can learn interactively about music with others who are interested in learning about music. There's not much to go on right now, but I think it could be something innovative and amazing.

Edit: They have updated their Kickstarter with a 30-minute video explaining gameplay and game mechanics! It's got some great information about how the game will be like in there! Video Here

Edit 2: There's a new update telling us a bit about why their goal is only 600k! They've got investors onboard their project, and need a little more funding to get enough for production. Link to the update post.

600k is a huge number, even for a project on kickstarter. Unless the developers are experienced people in the gaming world, I really have doubt about this.

I'm incredibly excited by this concept, but will likely wait it out a bit and see how they do publicity-wise before I put the money into it. Worst that can happen is I get my money back but I do really want this to become a reality.

They've listed some big names many people would recognize as where their experienced people come from like Assassin's Creed, The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, Guild Wars 2, and Firefly.

mindfuck. I can't even imagine how this MMO would be. GL to them, I like music genre in games but as a competitive skill, their game is more focused to creativity and making your own music.

I would assume there is some amount of competition and skill involved, since there's battles to be done.

600K is much. But now that much, for an MMO. How will they ever be able to finance this? It doesn't sound good. Also, they show, like, nothing. I'm... cautious. But I like the idea.

They say they've got a ton of their pre-production done already, so the funds will be more focused on the actual production, I guess that might factor into why their initial goal is lower than what one might expect. I'd like to see more about their plans for how their funds from this kickstarter will be used.

I kind of agree, 600k for a crowdsourcing campaign with next to nothing to show besides concepts and concept art is asking for a lot of trust--the idea sounds neat but I myself would be cautious to pledge anything

Bump, and also they have updated with a bit of information about their funding. 600k is an additional amount on top of investor funding! So, it sounds like they've already got a bunch of funds to help finance them, and they need more to get enough.

Stoked for this project. I only watched the video but I do wonder how the music production aspect will integrate with the game. Will you be battling a monster while you've got your electric didgeridoo plugged in and playing live to defend yourself? That would be epic. Now I just need an electric didgeridoo. Hmm.

I'm in love with the idea, and I hope it'll be funded. Maybe this can teach me how to make better music. Also, have a bump.
