Breath of the Wild. I played Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and BotW. Link to the Past was fun, I remember it being a super hyped (and expensive) game back in the day, but it didn't really stay with me after all these years. I played OoT in 2021 and while good, it was definitely dated as one of the earliest popular 3D games.
BotW, on the other hand, completely blew my mind. I have almost 150 hours on it, and every few months I boot it again to try to find the remaining shrines, play with Lynels, and just marvel at the world. Masterpiece
EDIT - I also played one or two on the GB and GBC, but they also didn't stick with me. Oracle of Seasons maybe?

Twillight Princess... i know this one is rarely on top of many people but i really enjoyed it, probably because it's the last i played (i stopped buying Nintendo console when i saw that shit that was called Wii. I played TP on gamecube, which is also one of the rarest and expensive version now). I would very likely enjoy the Breath of the Wild, but well, i have yet to buy a switch or switch 2 given their recent move (price).

Oracle of seasons :)
Oracle of ages is coming on the second of course :)
I even get used to GBC color scheme because of that game. It has so many content and i like how you can change the overworld thingy. And most importantly, it is an old zelda game so there is no grind or anything that pads out your playtime.

Still A Link to the Past is my favourite.
A close second is Link's Awakening.
Breath of the Wild is nice, but the mini-dungeons and breaking weapons weren't for me.

agree with breakable weapons being shit.
on the other hand
ridable bear mount

Yeah, I get that. I have an ice cone 'unicorn' bear mount in AC Valhalla and it rocks. It still doesn't make BotW my favourite Zelda game :)

The breakable weapons were actually one of my favorite parts of the game. Forces you to experiment with them all and adds some variety to the combat. I thought it would make me nervous to be missing my weapons, but they are so plentiful that you hardly run out of option.
Just offering an alternative point of view ;)
Although, at some Lynel fights, I used A BUNCH of weapons just to drain that mf's HP hahhaaha

There are other ways to make players use different weapons :) I grew up playing Dungeon Master and there is a reason why eating and drinking to keep some meters filled have vanished from RPGs and now are a feature of survival games.
If you enjoyed BotW you are clearly in the majority and that's fine with me. I don't really care if others enjoy the games that I don't and vice versa ;)

Here, have I Can't Believe It's Not Link's Awakening:

Twilight Princess 1000% with Minish Cap not far behind it. I've enjoyed the others like BotW, WW, OoT+ MM, hell even both DS games, but I have replayed Twilight Princess and Minish Cap SO much it cannot be understated. They feel like home.
I am thoroughly enjoying Echoes of Wisdom however!

The coolest ones are the ones I played a lot as a kid, Zelda Link to the Past on the Super Nintendo. My favorite is also Ocarina, on the Nintendo 64 =)

A Link to the Past, easily.
Never cared for the 3D Zeldas since the inability to freely jump made the gameplay feel restrictive to me. I haven't played the latest two on Switch/WiiU which I heard added the ability to jump (and climb + glide), so I'd probably like those if I ever get around to playing them.

I cannot describe the feeling of experiencing Link's Awakening at that time, a time where most games used to be extremely linear - technology limitations were an important factor. But of course, that game didn't touch me deeply just because of that, it was simply amazing in so many different ways.
If I had the chance to play A Link to the Past at that time, it could be likely that it would have taken the position as my second favorite game in the series, but as you can guess - and possibly recall yourselves experiencing something for the first time, it can hold a very unique place in your heart, even if later you stumble upon something objectively better/improved.
And later, Ocarina of Time did that and so much more in an absolutely stunning way - and not just for the then-current standards. So it holds not only the title of my favorite The Legend of Zelda, but my favorite game of all time.

I don't really remember all he handheld Zelda games, but if I have to choose between the normal console ones I really enjoyed Ocarina of Time and also Twilight Princess (gamecube version!!), loved the wolf mechanic in that one! Never had Zelda on the (S)NES so can't speak for those, I started with the N64 for this franchise.
Really disliked Skyward Sword even though I had the limited edition because of the horrible controls of the Wii and Breath of the Wild felt like a basic Open Word game with a Zelda skin and nothing more.

For decades I believed nothing could ever beat Link to the Past... then Breath of the Wild came out and yes, its the best.
Loved them all though (except for a few ones I simply liked).

Ocarina of Time, not only is it my favourite Zelda, it's also my favourite game of all time (tied with Bloodborne tho). A lot of people like to argue that people only love OoT cause of nostalgia, which is annoying as it's that's not always the case, the game in genuinely a masterpiece (for reference I played it for the first time back when covid started, got bored and bought myself a 3DS lol, OoT instantly became my fav game).
For 2D Zelda I'd have to pick A Link Between Worlds, the wall merging mechanic is just way too cool. I know it uses the same map as A Link to the Past, but I played it way before I even touched A Link to the Past, so that never bothered me. I also reallyyy like Link's Awakening.
Botw was actually my first Zelda, as I grew up with Xbox instead of Nintendo, so it still holds a special place in my heart. I personally like it more than Totk, stepping into that world for the first time created a feeling that can never be recaptured.
I love every single Zelda that I've played, even Skyward Sword. Can't wait to finally get to play WW properly through switch online!

So today's Gamefaqs Poll of the Day got me wondering.
What's your favorite Legend of Zelda game?
Mine would have to be a tie between A Link to the Past and Wind Waker. There was something about Wind Waker that made it fun again.
What's your favorite? I'd make a poll, but there are just too many titles.
And as a small treat, a Jigidi GA.
