OP definitely should play both of them before, and yes it will be possible.

If you are dying TO play The Witcher 3, you will be dying (a lot) IN Dark Souls :P

similar as in... open world? or deep rpg? or wut? I mean... gta V is the most living open world to date with plenty to do.

I'd say those combined, in a sort of "medieval" time.. something like Skyrim would suit aswell.. Yet I have played that way too much!

Shadow of Mordor I've already played through on my old console.. Yet Kingdoms of Amalur looks very promissing too!

Amalur is well worth a look/play, and in my opinion a great game that deserved way more attention than it got. The biggest problem it had was it released around the same time as Skyrim and got overshadowed. :/

I don't have a console anymore.. perhaps with the use of an emulator I can play it.

I'd suggest witcher 1 and 2 definitely.

You may also take a look at Mount & Blade (Warband), but it's RPG mixed with strategy.

Yea, Witcher 1&2 might be the best to get in the mood for the Witcher 3.. plus I still need to catch up with the story.. Plenty of choises :D

Have you heard of a game called Skyrim?

There are some great mods for it you could try. Only 5.99$ for most of them, which is pretty cheap.

Yea, put a huge amount of time into that game "back in the old days." But indeed I've enjoyed that quite a lot!
