What do you think will happen the last couple of hours before the Snow Globe cards expire? Do you think they will drop to only a few cents so people get at least something for them or do you think they'll stay at $.15-.20?

What's your prediction?

Drop hard then. People will want cash while they can get it, even if its a couple of cents.

^This. But we'll never know for sure because Steam servers won't be able to handle everyone rushing to sell/buy. lol

The market will stay where it is at the very luckiest. Supply continues to increase, especially with all the dupe account farming. You'll have a jam of people desperately trying to sell off their inventory before it disappears.

Demand will rise, but I can't fathom the demand outstripping supply. The market's already overstuffed.

All you have to do is look at the last holiday card set, still 60k complete sets worth of cards on the market just sitting there.

This is different now. All the cards will disappear at the end of the sale...

That's why there is going to be a shit ton load of cards because everybody wants to sell their spare ones.

And I will buy a lot to level up. :)

And, as others have said, Steam isn't going to be able to handle the load. Even cards that might have sold might go unsold for that reason.

Steam has been straining at the seams throughout this sale. Valve killed both Steam store and Steam community for several hours when they made Left 4 Dead 2 for a day. Trying to cast a community vote after a switch-over tends to produce an error. I finally was able to manually sync here at Steamgifts after a couple of days of failed attempts. A few times Steam said my inventory couldn't be viewed at that moment.

People trying to dump Snow Globes, combined with people trying to buy them cheap, combined with people trying to craft them, combined with last minute shop purchases? I've a feeling Steam will collapse under its own weight again at least for a while on Jan 2nd.

I'm fairly confident prices will drop like a rock to the lowest price allowed.

It'll crash, as folks will want something for them, rather than just let the be removed after the sale. Something is better than nothing.

Steam Community will go down and the sale will expire. Oops.

over the last few days they've only been going down by around a penny a day. it'll go down farther in the last days of the sale, but it is hard to predict how far since the snowglobe badge can be completed an unlimited amount of times.

Depending how long we'll have to sell them after last drop (8 hours or whole day of daily repeats), we'll either see them drop in price or they might even go up a bit, as crafters will try to craft while there's not going to be more supply.

In similar market experiments where EVERYBODY knows that resale value for an item (or items) will eventually drop to zero at a predetermined time, trading prices will start high, but will sharply fall as that "expiration deadline" draws near as people who have the item will try to pawn them off to get some profit (over NO profit at all).

So those who wait for the last few minutes could get a steal... but if they can't complete the set for a badge level, it's going to be worthless in the end.

They will drop hard. It's going to be a snowball effect. Let's say collectively most people are charging 10 cents, all it will take are a few people to start underbidding the collection for a new seller to also freak out and lower his price as well. Thus, every person will be rushing to sell thereby making people go lower and lower out of fear of not selling their cards.

With like 65.000 of each globe on the market, possibly another 100.000 of each yet not on the market but in an inventory, these will be worth exactly 0. Well... lowest price you can sell them for is 0.03. That is for sure.

The real question imho is, what will happen to the foil globe prices.

But all the collectors who have waited will be buying them as fast as they can at that price, and sellers want to make the most money they can. I doubt it will be steady at 0.03.

0.03€ on the last day.

I don't think they'll drop much. If people wanted to sell them they'd have sold them and if they wanted to make a badge they would have made a badge.

I see no reason why either parties would wait for the last day.

Yeah I definitely don't know why any sellers would want to hold on to them when they have been dropping in price consistently.

Hell they could rise on the last day. Some people want the badge.

My only question is why some people are still selling their snow globe cards at ludicrous prices. What, can they not read? They expire. Sheesh.

Even if they drop to 0.03$, it very hard to buy them. Many people will try to buy it in the last moment. It still hard to buy them now, when I click buy, the message always say someone bought it before me

I was thinking the same thing. If they drop to 3 cents, even skipping quickly to the 10th page might yield the same result - this card has been bought by another user.

Prices will drop, people seem to forget about the items you 'might' get from crafting the badge. Considering they will be unattainable after 3rd Jan, people would try to get at least one of those. Even if there are thousands of common items crafted already, considering a game like TF2 for example has millions of players, they would still be expensive. And prices will rise as time goes on.
