Stop? No. Will they appear less often? Maybe... If we don't count the factor of stupidity in.

What should I do if I win a game more than once, or if I win a game that I already purchased?
When this occurs, you should contact the giveaway creator and inform them you will not be accepting or redeeming the gift. Explain the situation, and ask the giveaway creator to request a new giveaway winner. During this process you should not mark the gift as "Received", or reveal the key if the option is available.

So nothing changed if my winner revealed key and asked for reroll?
I can't make reroll cause i'm not sure if this key is still not used, and only one way is deleting giveaway?

in my opinion, If winner revealed key he can't ask for reroll ┬─┬ ノ (º _ º ノ)

But then it opens up room for bad giveaways, where someone can make giveaways with used keys for example and when the winner goes to activate the key doesn't work. What is the option for the winner then?

What I usually do in cases where I have to ask for a reroll of an already seen key is, take a screenshot of seen key with the eye next to it, ask for a reroll and alert staff that the key was seen by the previous winner, so in case the key doesn't work it might have been activated by the previous winner (either on another account or given away to one of his friends).

Just make staff aware of potential issues.

Maybe If winner revealed key he can't ask for reroll for "i just bought it", "i don't want this game", "i don't have base game", "i already have this DLC" reasons. Check what u entered, check what u won 😲

I have to ask for a reroll of an already seen key is, take a screenshot of seen key with the eye next to it, ask for a reroll and a
lert staff that the key was seen by the previous winner, so in case the key doesn't work it might have been activated by the previous winner

and you do it for your own risk. Previous winner won't have any problems, if new one got used key. Reveal button - just a cosmetic thing

IndieGala gift links don't work any more as standalone links and users must use their internal system, we have already discussed this in the forums:

Someone should double-check it though. I had a lengthy (and I mean lengthy) email chain about this with their support, and I was not the only customer who voiced their dissatisfaction. Maybe it got through their stubborn heads that their new system is bad as hell. I did not buy anything from them for ages, so maybe they did the sensible thing and backed up.

The answer to the 8th question, regarding group giveaway visibility, should say "Ensure" not "Insure".

The "How does a blacklist work" section does not point out that it is reciprocal, and that you can no longer see/enter giveaways of people you blacklist.

Great work-- lots of progress!

In "Why did my level decrease," isn't another reason for a decrease if a game is purchase-disabled? e.g., Payday 2 and most of its DLC (although this might be regional).

Guidelines next? :)

Thank you Cg, a more up to date and documented faq and most probably less returning questions especially about level drops. If one reads the faq, of course. ^^

The section "How do I delete a giveaway...." does not mention that you lose a giveaway slot every time you delete a giveaway. New users could end up leaving themselves "locked out" with no available giveaway slots if they use the delete option recklessly.

Why should changes in game price apply retroactively to previously made giveaways? If I give away a game I bought for $40 and 2 years later the game now costs $5, that doesn't change the fact that I spent $40 on that giveaway.

Drops in a game's price actively affect past giveaways of said game for the sake of simplicity.

There is no way to parse the exact amount an individual spent purchasing the game he or she is giving away. Perhaps it was full price, perhaps it was 85% off. Perhaps it was in US dollars, perhaps in Indian Rupees. Perhaps the creator purchased the gift, perhaps it was given to him or her by someone else. There are many variables involved in determining "exact value" for what was given, and we cannot account for them all. The simplest and most elegant solution is to tie the CV to the (devaluing) purchase price. Some cases will offer more CV per money spent, some will offer less. It tends to even out. It is possible for the value of a game to drop to zero, but that rarely happens. In most cases, the CV will "bottom out" and remain steady thereafter.

If it is any comfort to you, those who give regularly continue to rise in CV level despite the deflation in game prices.

I think the argument would be just to use the current Steam retail price in USD at the time of the giveaway. That is equally simple and fair. The problem is this would need to be stored in the DB for each giveaway in the history of the site, and retrieved from the DB every time it's needed. I see the current system as being better for technical reasons than ones of simplicity.

That said, I don't have a problem with the system as it is now. But when I was trying to gain levels in the 5-8 range, it was disheartening to see it drop. (Mad Max x 3 went from 180 to 60 CV, etc.) I understand why some people don't like it. But it's not unfair, because it affects everybody, and it DOES promote more gifting (if you want to keep your CV level).

use the current Steam retail price in USD at the time of the giveaway

with all discounts applied of course, so they can later cry they paid full price <3

That would also mean we need to manually adjust value of every giveaway made when a game has the wrong value (like Deponia games when the pack is on sale) and make sure we notice it every time it happens (it's not like a lot of people report it when they get too much CV)

Simple to describe, but as you pointed out, it would be complicated and time-consuming to implement.

If we'd actually receive value based on the amount we spent on our giveaways, almost everyone would have a much lower level. I'm pretty sure I didn't spend $5117 on my giveaways at least.
