Do you hate humble bundle browser veriification ?
It exists because their servers have been many times hacked, players got their game codes stolen and HB had to regenerate new codes for all the customers affected. And this is not where it ends. Those who used same email and password for other sites similar to HB got those robbed as well..
If i'm not mistaken you can also change the secondary verification to your mobile phone you receive a message with security code each time you log in from new location.

if you mean you just aren't getting the email, then that was probably during a period that hb email servers were down, overloaded, or ddos attacked. otherwise as others stated its so you don't have your keys hijacked and for your own security.
i'm not sure what the "mobile phone" part is about though, that's not a requirement afaik.

You don't have to give them your number, you can use an app like Authy for that.
(I mean, c'mon, HB makes it quite explicit that you can use 2-step auth apps like that on their website)
