I've been bought 5 games from g2a so far. Never had a problem, but they weren't costing more than 12 Euros.
None of them were region locked, revoked or any of this kind.
So far i bought: Dark Souls 1, Dark Souls 2 SOTFS, Witcher 2, Battlefield 4, Lords of the Fallen. After I finish Witcher 2 I'm planning on buying Witcher 3 GOTY because it is so much cheaper on g2a than everywhere and somewhat safer. Wait. Hold on. Before you mock me for using "g2a" and "safe" in the same sentence, please include some valid arguments. They basically give you a refund if the key gets revoked or smth right? (refund in g2a wallet currency - which isnt a problem. would buy the same game again). If im not very mistaken most of the traders from steamtrades... alright lets not get everyone offended.... some of the traders from steamtrades buy games from websites like g2a,kinguin, etc, and sell them for more on steamtrades.
i.e.: Witcher 3 GOTY for 15 csgo keys (~36 Euros), and on g2a it is 30 Euros ( without 3% coupon). If the trader from steamtrades gives you a revoked copy or if anything bad happens, there isn't really much to do. He gets a little downvote there and you're left with nothing. On g2a they, as i mentioned earlier, they give you a refund in g2a wallet if not mistaken.

Now, what would you do? Would you buy the game from g2a or a trader ?

EDIT: Thanks everyone. I really hope witcher 3 will be on sale this summer...

Nope... Im not supporting sites profiting from flat out stealing from devs . And selling keys with questionable origin to say the least .

Heard this before. You cant just compare a car with a digital product.
Remind me, how are exactly, the keys from g2a, stolen? Couldn't the devs just deactivate the "stolen keys" ?

Do you know what happens when a dev deactivate such keys ? Its costing them time and money ...
You are absolutely clueless on the matter and just look at the cheap prices , and not the harm that is done to the Indie devs

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBakPg6x63Q watch this , and tell me if you still want to buy stuff from g2a

As for how are the keys stolen ... you buy stuff with stolen credit card, and resell it quickly on g2a ... by the time charge back actually hit you have already re-sold the stuff and cashed out .
At this point not only did whatever place the keys ware originally bough loses on the sale , if its to late they may even have to pay for the game to the dev cause they cannot track which keys ware the ones that ware bough that way...

So yeah m8 nice supporting thieves ... i understand the point of buying stuff cheaper , but FUCK g2a

I've actually watched this, along with a few others last night. Dont get me wrong, i really dont want to support this kind of things, but some people cant afford buying the games at full prices. Waiting another 9 weeks till the next sale isn't really what i plan on doing. Personally, witcher 3 seems like the kind of game that would deserve more than its current value, but i cant invest too much on games. Hell, I never invested money in games and i have +750. All i have is made from trading and trading and trading and selling those cheapie cards for 0.03Euros on market.
The only thing that would convince me buying something more expensive, as Witcher 3 GOTY from g2a would be the fact that they give you a refund if anything occurs (at least thats what i've heard).
Im aware of how scummy they are.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So you know they are scummy , but you still buy stuff from them ?
Thats why they are still in business ... we know they are shit , but those prices man .

Lets just ignore any harm such prices may be causing , cause you know I dont have the money to buy that 30-60$ Game.

And fuck the dev who may be hit with multiple chargebacks , and actually end up on the negative after dedicating people to go and deal with that while i play my game which i got for a dollar cheaper .

Having no money is not a valid argument to support their business practices m8 sorry but its not

And although you have waited nearly three quarters of a year, as W3GOTY was released in last August, you cannot wait another few weeks, you MUST get it right now, because the world will collapse, locusts will swarm the skies, rats will infest the land (actually, I think they will in India now, they have a half-century period when they do that), and time itself will shatter.
I think you just managed to put the term "first world problems" into overdrive and shoot it beyond theoretical hyperspace.

g2a and other websites like it always have issues that come in waves.

The dirtiest way I've see is that people regularly contact developers and pose as, for example, a particular streamer or group or streamers. They'll claim that they'll stream the game to have something to do, spread visibility, and maybe give a couple away in raffles. With how much work taking precedent, vetting requests has little to no time budgeted, so mistakes are made. These people then turn around and sell the dozen or so keys on websites like g2a.

The more direct route is the use of stolen credit cards, chargebacks, keygens, and use the grey area of grabbing bulk amounts of free/bundled games.

Nobody said you need to do so. Wait for sales, buy from trustworthy resellers / dev. Not that difficult of a concept :)

I would rather torrent the game then support these sites...that being said I just wait till I have enough to buy on steam/maybe greenman or humble

why greenman though?
Most of the torrents have hidden malwares, that bypass any ordinary antivirus (not talking about the false-positive ones). No one does anything for free. Bitcoin miners, keyloggers, etc.

I mentioned Greenman because its a digital marketplace not a key re-seller.
and I only mentioned that I would rather torrent a game then buy on kinguin, G2A etc not that I do...
there are plenty of safe places to find stuff/private trackers etc.

I have never bought a game on greenman (I've never even bought something from bundle stars)
I have never torrented a game (yet) as well.

this was all an example of me saying I would rather not support G2A in any way
and all in all I do trust Greenman alot more than G2A they've done a few shady things once or twice but nowhere on the level of G2A/Kinguin.

And as an added bonus you can write real reviews.

Doesn't really get much more legit than steam or GOG, and it's cheaper during a sale.

I only buy from G2A if two conditions are met.. Firstly, If the game is not available on CDKeys or Gamersgate for cheaper. Secondly, if the game is not purchasable on GoG.

what if i buy the game from a seller with high reputation on g2a?
i.e.: 99% rep sellers.

personally, GoG looks fishier than G2A to me, but that might be because I only had positive experience with G2A so far and haven't heard any good (generally not much so far) about GoG. Dunno what to think about it tbh

My G2A conditions are that the game is still far too expensive per steam (sale), has a VERY good price on G2A, I REALLY wanna have it and that the seller has either 100% or 99% reputation. But even for 99% I check the comments already.

*edit: I just checked further into it and saw that GoG seems to be off steam purchases. In that case it's a no go for me anyway ^^

Since G2A is a marketplace where "individuals" sell keys they acquired somewhere, it is mathematically impossible for it to be the cheapest in anything, since the sellers need a profit, not to mention to cover the ridiculous cost of G2A itself.

By the way, Witcher 3 GOTY is €25 now on GOG.

I haven't had any problems regarding not working keys on g2a, g2play, kinguin, or similar sites so far (~ 100 games purchased).
That being said, Witcher is something that you really should buy on gog.com, considering that they belong to the studio that actually made this masterpiece of a game and the gog version is DRM free.
Depending on your region, buying games on gog can even be cheaper than those reseller sites.

im tempted to buy witcher 3 goty from g2a because they have a system similar to ebay. There is a "Rep" system on g2a. Like on steamtrades.
A seller with +100.000 games sold and 99% positive rep isnt considered, even a little, trusted?

I always think about this: You have money but you don't want to spend it so you steal the game you want from the store. Everyone would think this is bad right? But when it is made in digital environment no one feels the same remorse while there is no difference. And even if you get to play your game without a problem, there is someone out there getting robbed of their work. I think this video from LevelCap explains it really nice if you have the time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBakPg6x63Q

Thats why im tempted. There are plenty of sellers with +100.000 games sold on g2a with 99% positive reputation. Giving the game as a GIFT on steam, not even a key. G2A is willing to give you refunds in G2A wallet currency...
I.... i... honestly dont want to end up disappointed that my game doesn't go on sale on summer sale...
I have this weird policy on not spending more than 20$ on a game. One of the reasons being that i cant afford it. Im usually trading and cash-in the money directly to the card from paypal because i need the money.
so much as stake... i'll just wait till summer sale i guess....

Iv'e bought games from them including their two recent bundles , but saying that i only buy the cheapest of cheap like £2 at the most coz my mania just can't resist it , there's no way i'd give them £30+ for a game though, if i'm gonna spend that kind of money i buy from steam or GOG, don't care if my logic is twisted, but i don't download games illegally i always part with cash , you can't blame anyone wanting to take advantage of a bargain & the whole "stolen keys scenario" i just don't buy maybe a minority are doing this but G2A would not be operating still as a business if that were completely true imo ,but for e.g i bought something from ebay earlier this week & it turned out to be a fake kinda the same principle but it's my fault for taking the chance & i accept that.

Now, what would you do? Would you buy the game from g2a

No.

or a trader ?

Occasionally. Yes.

As for G2A, it's not about whether or not the key works properly and if you can enjoy your game without a worry in the world... it's more about the fact that you are probably screwing over developers, or purchasing stolen goods, or... I could go on. If you don't mind that, then sure, enjoy the "so fine" prices. At this point I'd rather pirate though, at least nobody profits there. :P

Also G2A are a scamming bunch of asses trying to stealthily force you to enable G2A Shield bullshit.

/sarcasmon Please stop criticising G2A, 40% of their employees are women /sarcasmoff

At the end of the day you can get lucky with your key not being revoked, but if it does get revoked you end up paying much higher than you would have for a normal authorised steam key seller because you need to buy it again and again after being revoked.
More so, grey market seller keys have a significant %age originating from chargeback frauders in which case not only are you NOT supporting the developer who actually made the game which you are enjoying in the first place, but in fact it COSTS them money from credit card/paypal chargebacks. Which is why small indie developers have come out & said please just pirate our games instead of buying them on the grey market, a lost sale is one thing but we can't afford to pay for chargebacks.

I wouldn't have a problem at all with G2A if it were an actual trading-zone/marketplace/flea market, but right now it is just a Reseller/Frauder hub. They keep you thinking you are trading with someone just like you, trading away their extra games for a little extra $$$, but ever wonder how come most of the sellers there have sold thousands of games which most of the time have been cheaper than the cheapest region price? If it sounds too good to be true, it is: maybe not for you but the dev.

That said you can do what you like, but don't claim that G2A are safe, they might be for you but not for everyone else involved. 😺✌
