There is no average time. There is a maximum time of a week for them to give it to you. Just be patient.

Wow 6 hours could it even be conceivable to you that people are busy.

I've been waiting for 2 days.

There is currently an issue with the steam.store servers which also handle gifts.
Please be patient, the sender has up to a week to send your gift.

Remember that people come here from all over the world, so in the country from which that person is still may be deep night, or he may be at work...

Yeah, should only worry about not getting the gift if it gets to be a good week since you won. That's when you can finally set the gift as 'not received'

People all over the world are using this site, the gifter could be asleep at 2AM in the morning wherever they are, or they could be at world in the middle of the afternoon. No telling, I wouldn't worry about it yet. They have a week to send the gift.
6 hours isn't very long at this point.

I agree that waiting 6 hours or even days for a gifted game is acceptable; but I must say that the gift giver himself/herself set the time for the giveaway's ending. They must select a time when they are available, otherwise the option would be pretty meaningless.

I mean why set it to end at 3 am in the morning local time if you have the option to select 10 am and watch the results?
