I've won games that I had won in the prior days before due to not remembering to remove entries when I win a game Ive been after, but this is a first for me. Anyone else ever have this happen?

i feel a little bad that tetsuj1n has to wait on support to reroll 3, but I really wanted this, so i entered all of them, like 30 or 40 of them i think.

lol. I saw that contest but it was L2 and I'm only 1. I was wondering if someone could win more then one since they all ended at the same time and there must have been 50 of them. But to win 4. wow. Thats amazing. I would have done the same thing. Entered them all. Go buy some lotto numbers, Today is your lucky day.

It's from the event where the person gave away 50 copies of the same game, it's really not that impressive :p

maybe not, but still statistically unlikely.

Eh, depends on the amount of entries. I don't remember the average amount of entries per GA but it wasn't very high I believe.

no towards the end (the ones I won) they were around 30 entries each.

Are those from that event?
Ouch, this means it's already finished :(
I swear I have that tab still open somewhere!! (I'll find it eventually)

I could have snatch one from you =P (don't know if this sentence is correct, I'm not good with these "pro-level" tenses)

yea, they were, and yes it is over, but if you entered them you still have a chance to win a copy due to rerolls

I entered none 'cause I was a bit in a hurry and forgot to check their end-time =P
Next time! :)

I've made a lot of trains and I started staggering the ending times because if I had multiple giveaways ending at the same time I'd often have a bunch of people winning multiple games. Plenty of other times other unusual clusters occur. Sometimes I strongly suspect Steam Gifts may have some slight RNG issues...

well thats because computers cant really generate a truly random number, they have to be based on something, usually internal clock as its most random. but ya, no RNG is truly random.

Yeah, that's something I'm aware of from the lost years where I was obsessed with Pokemon and I discovered RNG manipulation was a thing to acquire a shiny Charmander. Plus I studied maths (pure & statistics) at college and about a year ago I sat down and worked out the probabilities of some of the stuff I had seen on Steam Gifts and decided it was complete bullshit.

'Sometimes I strongly suspect Steam Gifts may have some slight RNG issues' was my polite way of saying that sometimes Steam Gifts is pretty broken. But at least if nobody understands how the system works to abuse it then overall it is still fair, and I'm pretty sure nobody is abusing the system. Right?

I dunno about that, I dont trust some of these russians with account under a month old and 50 wins. but maybe its just easier to win region restricted stuff. who knows.

I've had a few winners like that. Typically lots of wins in a short space of time from low entry giveaways - often puzzles in discussions and the like. Sometimes with not many games on their account. Either in Steam groups that appear to be sharing giveaway links or with a much higher level user on their friends list in such groups.

I doubt that is RNG manipulation - just some people are born lucky!

Even taking into consideration the fact that Russia has the second largest number of users on site said users still have a greater chance of winning something due to their access to regional giveaways.

The stats page notes ~130000 Russian site users and 25000 Ukrainian site users. If you round to a guestimated 200000 to account for the rest of the RUS+CIS region you've got significantly less entrants than any given ROW giveaway which can potentially have over 900000 entries.

I'm not even sure if it counts as good or bad luck at this point.

In France such hazard is quite bad I hope you are alone in life (just pulling you leg) =D

and of course unlucky gifter he will lose 15 minutes to reroll ( if he does..)

Wow! You should play the lottery.

That was to be expected, statistically if there were 50 copies but done in single-giveaways, and 30 entries in each, assuming those 30 entries were all the same, even after infinite rerolling some people will get double-copies, or giveaways will be deleted.

So now both Tetsuj1n as well as support has fucked up situation to solve, because it'll take at least a dozen (but probably many more) of rerolls in order to deliver wins to unique people, then all other giveaways will need to be removed, unless some people will want to break rules and accept multiple gifts.

TL;DR That's why you're not giving away 50 copies in single giveaways. Or at least, not in invite-only giveaways.

I almost did the exact same thing. I entered all of those I came across in that event to serve as a placeholder so I wouldn't get lost, but forgot to take my entries out until just a couple of hours before they ended.
