I think it's going to be pretty cool. What are your thoughts on the upcoming Halloween update, and the previous 1.2 patch?

Most of those are from before the new update as well. At the moment I've only put 15 or so hours into the new update. Would have been more, but the new Pokemon game came out so it kind of clashed a bit XD

Pff 200 hours. Casuals. >.>

As for the update, I am excited for even more content after 1.2 (and 1.2 was awesome, btw). However, I hope it's not ALL Halloween crap. I've always thought the "holiday" was lame. I know there's a FINAL boss coming at some point, and I can't WAIT for that.

I hope they make the final boss cthulhu (we have his eye and brain already as boss >.<)

The final boss has something to do with "bring[ing] the moon to earth" so I dunno about it being Cthulhu.

So very, very good! Just got through soloing Prime, and am in the middle of trying to get all of the special chest keys. Got the jungle one while setting up a proper arena to kill Plantera. And I'm going to be making a few more worlds so I can try to find everything. I just got one with a pyramid, and another with a jungle temple.

Really like the 1.2 update and definitely looking forward to halloween. Haven't played much since the update, but I plan on it (: Similar to @dsc most of my 170 hours are from pre-update.

There's supposed to be an update regarding some Halloween theme and such. Not nearly as big as 1.2 was. :)

I love terraria, but I'm still mad about the developers dropping support to the game some time ago.

I really want to start over, but I don't really want to play alone :D

They kinda just lied about dropping support though. Because they came back!

Yes, but they only came back after the release of terraria on xbox live and psn, they saw the title was still selling and they could milk it more (It's not a bad thing, games like Terraria can be easily expanded adding new stuff, materials, items, monsters etc). First they were: Fuck terraria we need to move on to new projects, oh wait? More money? That's great! Disregard what we said before, terraria ftw buy more copies :D

Yes I know, it's stupid but it still grinds my gears :D

But the dev really wasn't like that at all though. Most of terraria was coded by just one guy, Redigit, and when he had, you know, a job. The reason we got extra free content is because it kept selling well enough that he could afford to make it more into the game he wanted to make in the first place but was limited by time and budget constraints. He said he probably wasn't going to work on it anymore after 1.1 because he had a goddamn newborn and he'd just made a massive addition of free content which probably took up a lot of time and effort and he wanted a break.

Terraria still sold well after that and he was approached by publishers that took notice and wanted to port it over to other platforms for him (something he couldnt do all by himself probably). He took that opportunity, realized that after being away from the game for a while that there was still stuff he wanted to do with it and had made more from the console/android versions to support more development, and made 1.2. Which was bigger than 1.1, and we all got for free when it couldve warranted being paid dlc in and of itself.

But for some reason people have this fiction where he "ABANDONED THE GAME!!!1!" and betrayed his paying fanbase maliciously, which is just ridiculous. The man's not a game-code machine you give money once and spits it out indefinitely afterword. He's just one guy with a life, and a family, and bills.

He did say that it's over back then, hence the backlash from everybody. Not to mention just a month earlier he was saying all over the place what neat content is on the way for Terraria. So he did deserve what happened. If he wanted a break, he could just say that he's taking a break and will come back after a few months, and everybody would be ok with that.

Up to that point Terraria wasn't leaving the Steam bestseller list, being mostly in top5. After that no more, he killed his "product" by saying that he's done with it back then.

Currently Terraria seems to have regained some of it's popularity (yeah!), but it's still nowhere compared to its glory days.

I don't see why you say they're trying to milk it for more, considering they're doing something that's, sadly enough, a rarity in games these days and releasing all of the new content for 100% free. logan5's post pretty much sums up the rest of my thoughts.

IIRC there was like a 20% spawn rate on her

And even though she was a dev confirmed Pinkie Pie reference her personality and looks didn't match too much

As far as her looks go, I'd say they're a pretty good reference without being a copy.

I RQed right after I found out she had a super low chance of spawning so I wouldn't know

I don't think it's so bad, her spawning conditions aren't hard to meet so it's only a matter of time before she spawns. She doesn't sell anything vital anyway.

Though once you get to hardmode she sells one of the ingredients to the most awesome bullets in the game.

Edit: or rather, she always sells the ingredient, you just can't get the other ingredients till hardmode.

The literal only thing I cared about when I started playing 1.2 was Pinkie Pie

Terraria did not deliver

I was disappointed

Eh, there's a lot more to 1.2 than Pinkie.

Terraria will deliver assuming you meet the requirements for her to spawn. Her requirements aren't even difficult to meet.

Meh, I stopped caring about Terraria a long time ago

Pinkie Pie is one of my more current passions

In that case, I must question why you even bothered at all? It seems silly to play a game you no longer care for simply for an extremely minor tv show reference.

Fun fact- I'm kind of obsessed with Pinkie.

So, no matter how minor, I felt like it was my duty to find and enjoy the reference.

Also, I like the game. I just don't give a shit about it. Good timewaster.

The 1.2 update gave me a reason to restart and finally beat Terraria, in as much as one can beat it. The Halloween update looks interesting, but I don't think it's enough to make me want to play again.

It's intended to be a small amount of new content to make the holiday happen. I don't think it's intended to be an interest reboot.
