Question about levels and giveaways:

  1. How can I see how many level points I will get for a giveaway of a particular game?

  2. How many $USD of giveaways does it take to reach each of the levels? (or just level 1 if that is too much work)

Thanks in advance!

  1. Unbundled games give 100% of their retail value as CV. Bundled games give 15%, and free games give 0%. When creating a giveaway, no asterisks next to a game's title (in the "Select a Game" field) is unbundled, one asterisk is bundled, and 2 asterisks is free.

One more question!

What's the (average?) rate of Points given per day or week?

If you mean the points being handed out to each user in order to enter giveaways, they've recently been locked to a fixed rate of 6 points per 15 minutes, no matter the activity level of the site. So it's the same rate 24/7. If you reach 400+ stored points, you will stop receiving points until you have spent some of them.

*5 points per 15 minutes :)

I apologize, I was apparently mistaken. :X

Apparently they changed it to 6 when they lowered the point cap to 400.
At least that's what the announcement combatbeard linked above claims ;)

Well, it's a trait of mine, not really paying close attention to site numbers. :P
I coulda sworn I saw it tick 5, but without actually having given any real mind to it, I could just be recalling the pre-change value.
Good to know I didn't imagine it being at 500 at one point, though. I was so distracted those days, I honestly thought I had.
We'll find out for sure in a couple of minutes, I guess. :P

I'm terrible with numbers. With history I always remember who and what but never when :D
No, you definitely didn't imagine that but I think it only lasted a week or two ;)

Whelp, it's 6. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :)

SG wasn't really a priority for me right around then, but I thought I'd logged off at one point with 500, but when I got back it was 400- so I though I'd just misread it the last time I'd been on the site. I don't think I had a chance to see it tick away by entering giveaways, so I never really had any kind of concrete support for it not having just been my own misperception of the numbers.
:gesture: Such as I am clearly wont to have. :P

For level 1 you just need one game or $1.

Other levels you can check here

To add to Tzaar's comment, a "bundled" game is any game that reaches 95% off in any region. Due to games being manually added to the free/bundle game lists by a single individual, tagging can be delayed (but is retroactively applied to the start of the promotion once it is implemented). If you plan on putting up an unbundled game at any point, you may want to ask for advice at that time on how to minimize the risk of not getting full CV. For bundled games, it's rare that they coincide with a free promotion, but the SG Deals thread nearly always covers those, so a quick glance at the thread for recent deals before posting a giveaway would be enough to reasonably cover your bases.

Welcome to the site (or at least, welcome to being active on it). ^.^

Hi,
you can plan your giveaways with this tool: OSS - OSS - Tool to plan Steamgifts giveaways. It's a Spreadsheet (excel, openOffice) designed to give you the real value of your actual and future giveaways. It will tell you how many CV you need to reach the next level or a level of your choice... and a lot more (like the cost of your giveaways).
