Is it any good?
It's not really too late, but if the virus is very bad it is. But some viruses are just "troll-tier". Like automatically opnes some pages, changes start page, opens some programs in the background. If this does nothing to HARM, it's not big deal and You can delete virus. Actually it happened to me once when I wanted to download sth from the dark side of the web... for the first time. I just had to spent 2 hours deleting everything virus did.
But if it was sth worse... it can be too late. Viruses can be smaller or bigger threat.

I use Windows Defender for ages and it's enough to keep my computer out of viruses
As long as your chair-keyboard interface is good, any antivirus is good enough because no antivirus is necessary (which doesn't mean you shouldn't get any anti-malware protection, just the anti-virus per se isn't quite useful).
That being said, Vipre seems to be okay in this recent test: https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/real-world-protection-test-may-2018-factsheet/

I mean... mostly it's about what user do, right? If user doesn't go to suspicious pages and doesn't download malicious software just because it says "free full program", the user is pretty much safe at least 95%+.
No antivirus is 100% perfect, but when one knows what to do in the Internet (and more important: what NOT to), then they can be safer. Even if some user has "best" AV software but downloads everything from the web.

Yes, that's what's usually meant by "chair-keyboard interface" 🙃

No, it isn't.
Even reputable sites can have advertising or ad-servers that were infected etc. Also, web-sites load tons of stuff from other pages or hosters. Any site can have malicious code on it.
Yes, you run a higher risk if you surf the "darker" side of the net but it doesn't mean you're scot-free if you only go to "normal" pages.

Me neither. But got a copy, that probably goes to someone who wants it. Maybe family/friend... maybe I just give it to someone here. Cause I don't really use such things.

Vipre? No, it is a mid-range product on its very best days. Probably its greatest strength I could think of is that it is not Panda Antivirus.
If you really want a paid security software, then see which is the cheapest for you: Kaspersky, BitDefender, F-Secure, Webroot, or Symantec Norton.

I don't really need any, I just got it for free, that's why I wonder if it's any good.

If you have at least 8GB RAM, an SSD, and an i5 (or Ryzen 5), then it is good enough. You won't see most of the performance drop (PC will boot slower, that is about it) and it is better than having only Windows Defender. Not by a wide margin, but sometimes even "intelligent browsing" is not enough to protect an average Windows PC, so having something to protect it can never hurt (as long as it is not just there to decrease performance, like McAffee products before 2012).

From personal experience, I recommend against Norton. An AV that flags itself as malware and bricks your machine to the point of needing a full reinstall as a result is certified trash by my standards.

Strange. I've never had a problem with Norton before. In fact, it got rid of a nasty Ransomware virus on my computer.

maybe ,maybe not
But alot of friends i have had different issues with Noton like example :deleted game files while downloading ,didnt even detect malware ,malware could easily deactivate norton and many other things ,i feel more its more than a risk using norton ,than it would save you .
Had alot trouble helping people because of norton ,since then im using & recommend avast .

I guess I've just gotten lucky then! I've used it for several years now, so unless something dire happens, I'll keep using the one that I know.
It's good to let people know the experiences you've had (good or bad), however!

Norton is shi* to bring it on one point.
I had the most virus problems with it in my 26 years of internet experiences. It was not complete uninstalled after the uninstall. Make always problems with error messages after the windows start. Only a fresh windows install solved that problem.
HORRIBLE results by friends and family too and i must always install there windows new to kick it completly.
I use since many years Avast too. First the free version for around 2 years. Great results, never had any problems, sometimes a bit hard by the Trojaner detection when you install games from steam :-D. After that time i used a paid version (the lowest of them) and don't see a difference to the free one.
The best Antivirussoftware i ever seen and used and i used a lot of different ones in that 26 years

Actually thats what has been said the last 10 years or more. norton is still there thanks to their commercials not with how good their program actually is.. it is a bit like mc afee, giving a burden for no real results, better to stick with native program

Vipre in my view isn't that great. Not a great firewall, limited threat coverage.. it's a cheap antivirus, always surpassed by tons of other ones..
Just use Avast if you want something good for free.

Actually i have Windows Defender for free and it does its job.

i feel that Defender (which automatically blocks the most common malicious software) and a bit of common sense is enough. That is, unless you like or have to download dubious software or mods, roms and randomly found scripts, then a virtual machine is probably the safer option. For what Defender can't do, i just use Malwarebytes.

Actually I rarely download things. And I always try to find homepage of program I download. I don't like using third party sites. Even if those sites are just "Program listing sites" (don't know any in english, but I have some of those in my country; they lists software for x, for y, and reccomend them or not). I prefer to find a source. Plus I rarely go to the darkest side of the web. Most usually accidentaly. I just don't feel okay with unknown sources, not only because of a threat tbh.

Please, vote only if You used it in any way.
So, I get free Vipre antivirus from Humble and I have a question. Is this any good? I use Windows Defender for ages and it's enough to keep my computer out of viruses. But I got this copy, so... I'm wondering.
When I googled, people were saying that it's bad. But it was in 2015 year. 3 year in development could have changed everything. So, how it is? The newest versions.
PS Don't say Windows Defender is bad. It's not. And it's not the thread about this.
PPS If You didn't use this antivirus, please, don't vote. It's not what colleague of uncle of cousin of brother of mother of Your postman think. I need REAL opinions.
PPPS Thanks in advance
