Loved the original (still haven't started with Harvest, though; need to do that soon). So sure, wishlisted.

fwiw, I thought that adding rewards for turning on extra challenges made them much more worthwhile, as was letting me turn them off at any time since some layouts are harder than others. It seems like the resource drops for evolving the pets is a bit stingy, and I wanted an evolved active pet to bestow some sort of advantage, too (increased chance of resources or wilds, maybe even raising one of your skills a level)

Having pets be more mechanically involved is something I want to do, but also do right. It's tough but in future games we'll keep trying to make that happen.
If you reach NG+ you will see drops begin to really show up. Anything which adds to luck also makes drops more common. However the 3 resource related talents are for forcing a specific resource to drop and all 3 should not be leveled since that will cancel each other out.

Loved the original game, so have wishlisted. Good luck!

For sure! But it still does seem to help with Steam deciding if the game is worth giving organic exposure to or not. At the moment it's not getting any organic traffic on Steam...

Check out https://defold.com/ it's what I use for gamedev now!

Yes, it is easy to work with teams with it, has a lot of productive features without being bloated. Very good documentation and helpful community.

Having many wishlists before release causes the game to show up in the "popular and coming soon" category of the steam shop to boost sales a bit.

It has an entirely new engine powering it, the core game was basically all rewritten (again), and it has a lot more polish in general, but it is still the same game. New engine is much more future proof and stable, easier for us to update in the future.

Do you know when the sequel to Faerie Solitaire is going to be released?
Considering how the first game had quite the cliffhanger, I'd like a chance to continue the story. :)

Still happening! But I won't say more on that until after Dire is released and gets a few updates. :)

Dire has more mechanics in general, and is a much more difficult game due to this (especially in the optional areas), but the main adventure path is generally comparable to the original FS adventure path. There are extra RPGish things but it all serves the core card game gameplay, not the other way around.

During the 2020 Steam Festival there is a demo available for Faerie Solitaire Dire! Only from June 16th @ 10am Pacific until June 22nd @ 10am Pacific, so play and wishlist!

As of just before this event starting, Dire is up to 2,500 wishlists! Half way there! π₯
We're working on a new game and plan to release it this year in 2020. And will inevitably do some giveaways for it. π
Faerie Solitaire Dire is originally conceived as a sister game to the game we released in 2019 Faerie Solitaire Harvest. The original idea was to make an easier game (Harvest) and a harder game (Dire). Over time of development of Harvest we actually made that game harder and more technical than originally planned (while also including even more optional difficulty), and over the course of Dire we have made this game a bit easier (or rather made made it not always super challenging all of the time, and also made more of the difficulty optional... up to a point).
Please wishlist Dire today! https://store.steampowered.com/app/556530/Faerie_Solitaire_Dire/
The screenshots on the Steam page are currently from a very old alpha build. I will be updating them to a more recent build later this month.
Now that this forum category exists I will be updating this thread with new info for this game over time until release so long as there is interest so please feel free to ask questions about the game in this thread and I'll answer what I can. ππ
Dire currently has 2,000 wishlists on Steam. This is rather low and we really need to get it higher before releasing! π±
