I haven't tried it yet but I've seen on somebody's GA that apparently you can do a workaround by only attaching the key at the end of the link (everything after=) and put the rest of the link in the GA description.

can't use : www.humblebundle.com/gift?key=***
says that it should only consist of numbers, letters, and dashes.
EDIT: managed to do it: I had to add https:// to the link.
url parser is to strict, needs work.
