I thought SteamGifts automatically blocks me from entering games/DLC I have?

It's been two in a row within a few days no less.

Of course I returned all keys/gifts unused but it still irks me as it causes inconvenience to all parties involved.

You should do it as soon as you get a new game/dlc.
Its also very smart to do it before weekends so you don't get caught in the "free game" days as SG will then mark your account as if you really own that game until the next sync.

Do it as soon as you redeem a new game on steam, I always do it. We should suggest a periodic "Autosync" feature for the site, I guess.

I do this every time I add a new game to my Steam account (especially after buying a bundle) so that way I always know what I already have as the site tells me so :)

Enter for stuff from your wishlist ... eZ

If you don't sync manually your steam account, you can have false games in your wishlist (games you bought or won since the last sync).
It's annoying until your understand you have to sync accordingly to your activity.

Well i tend to sync every time i buy a game , so i dont get that issue.
It takes like 10 second , 2 button clicks .

Yes, it seems it's the best option.

It would be nice , if it automatically got you out of giveaways for owned games when synced ...
But duno how hard it is to implement that .

MAYBE, think a little of the problem, Sa6peto told zeroxxx to not enter to any game he finds, of course he wins something he already has if he enters all the giveaways he sees, don't you think?

Winnig something he already has doesn't necessarily mean he enters all GAs he sees.
He could have entered some GAs for this game, then buy it later and forgot about those entries and thus not removing them and ending up winning the game he just bought.

Hey I just met you. And this is crazy. But here's my number. So call me MAYBE

Its completely related to the thread actually .
If he pays attention to what giveaways he is entering , he wont have that issue .

He could simply have bought a game and forgotten that he was entered in some giveaways for this game that weren't finish yet.

Everytime I buy games, I am checking my entries for that game, it's not that hard, but he just doesn't want to do anything, he doesn't care at all.

+1
I Sync my acc every time i get a new game , and i make sure to leave every giveaway i have entered for it .
Its not hard , some people are just lazy ...
But being lazy , and then complaining about it is what i didnt like in that topic .

I think DLC-s are not filtered at all due to Steam API limitations

I have people, even winners, who entered GA I create, just for a DLC ie : http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/NelzF/endless-space-gold
Some people are well mannered (see nlspeed911 http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/VVXUnNc), others are not (gPaskal won this, but has the base game, i have to request for a new winner).
I don't know if they get some warning if they already have a piece of a Gold version... Either way it force me to review all winners now, which I did not do until i've seen this happening.

Packs have their own ID-s (see https://steamdb.info/app/208140/subs/ for Endless Space), and SteamGifts can not track/tell if you have something (or even everything) from that pack. So it is up to the users if they enter or not. Generally it is accepted to ask in GA descriptions that "do not enter for the DLC only", "do not enter if you have more then 2 items from this pack" and so on. It might be even enforced, so serve as an acceptable reason for reroll.
However what I write above is that SteamGifts may not see at all if you have a given DLC already or not, because the related Steam interface works (or just worked) unreliably.

Do you mean you won giveaways from games you have bought between the time you entered and the time it ended ?
If you're entered in a giveaway, your entry will remain even if you get the game and sync your account. You have to remove these entries manually.

sometimes sync wont work properly, just clean your browser cache and try again,

If you accidentally win game you already own, you should ask giveaway hoster to re-roll, and keep constantly re-syncing your account. http://www.steamgifts.com/account/profile/sync

Exactly. Maybe stop entering stuff that you already own? And you should know what you own..... not that it's hard to check anyway.

I'm trying to prevent it this way: after winning I'm redeeming game on Steam, marking it as received on SG, syncing account with Steam and searching "Entered" for name of game I just won. When there are any GAs left for this game, I'm clicking "Remove". This way, as long as I don't win two GAs of the same game in a row in a very short time, I should be fine ;)
But sometimes SG lets me enter game I already have - just have to remember to hide it then.

First of all, don't enter GAs if you already have the game.
Also, try to sync more often.

SG cannot track 99.9% of DLCs as they are not separate entries in your library, so it cannot tell if you own it or not. Same goes for some games, but these are rare so it's rarely a problem. To avoid such a situations make sure to regularly Sync SG and make sure you don't own DLC you're entering for EVERY TIME.
