I set up a group on Steam where I have some ideas on what I want to do. I can invite you if you want to take a look. I don't know if I'll be able to do it though, since I'm a bit short on money. I guess I'll have a final say by the end of the month, since I plan on starting the process on November to have the event on December 11 if it all goes well.

Cynicism isn't really fair tbh, literally the entire community gets a say, if similar people get nominated, its probably because they are doing consistently nice things?
If you can think of a better way of trying to do something for the community, I'm open to suggestions.

hehe, i wasn't necessarily meaning that.. i just meant these things turn more into a popularity contest more then anything else. and idc either way, just was trying to be cute and call the obvious. that it'll be the same basic list of nominee's xD
the only problem i see with this particular list of games, is the majority that'll be nominated will own approx. 75% of the listed games (likely the same 75% of the games), therefore at that point it will become a friend invite frenzy that the popular get to choose. but i'm still interested to see how well (or bad) this goes though. =)

If you could please keep negativity to yourself it would be much appreciated, I'm not trying to pick my "friends" here, I'm trying to do something a bit different. I understand that some people might not like the event, but I'd really rather have a go at something different and fail, than do nothing at all.

I don't want you to think that I'm being mad about it, I'm trying to avoid conflict rather than promote it. Apologies as there appears to be misunderstanding on both ends here.
I just dislike negativity around events not just my own because I don't think people realise how much effort goes into them sometimes. Its easy to criticise. I just literally want to do something different and a bit fun!
Fwiw, I respect your opinion, but I still disagree with it, I'm already seeing names nominated that I am not familiar with, which is great! And if the same "popular" people get nominated, I'm cool with that too, the "popular" people tend to be people who do consistently nice things for the community.

umm just thought about it though. to avoid the issue i was foreseeing entirely maybe limit it as if it were a "bundle of games" and if ppl own 8/15+ of them (like myself) should be disqualified from the event so that those that don't have that many get the chance instead? obviously just a suggestion you don't have to take. but would make things smoother for you i think.
inb4 blacklists coming my way cause nominee's already own all but one or two xD

Its Deal or No Deal, but instead of money, its games.
In short.
15 people each are holding a hidden game, each round consists of one player choosing 3 hidden games to discard. When 3 games are discarded, they will be offered a deal to end the game. They choose to either accept the deal or carry on discarding another 3 boxes etc etc until either only 1 box is left or they accept a deal.
Example.
You are the player. You pick box 1, 2 and 3. We open each box to reveal, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V and Bad Rats. These 3 games get discarded and can no longer be won. You get offered Deponia by the banker. You can choose to accept Deponia and end the game, or carry on playing and discard a further 3 boxes.

Well first of all, the player is actually playing for a GA for all 15 people in the event. If the player has the final game, they get to nominate 5 other people to invite to the GA.
I can also work on some kind of way of making sure the person playing hasn't got the majority of games in the boxes.
