it's a cake .. it's 3D.. so cut it Horizontally into to Cake with half of the height.. then a simple X cut all the way though from the top accross both pieces.. it's a simple 8..

Get a protractor and cut every 45 degrees all the way across the cake... three times. :V
Cut once, measure 45 degrees, cut again, measure 45 degrees, cut a third time.
