Well, judging from the active players according to steam charts. .. 218 playing now. 288 peak today. Friday night. I think there are a few players. Though certainly not thriving.

They are likely playing the single player campaign.
BS2 requires a minimum of 6 players online and ready iir to start A MATch, SIMILAR TO DS2.
It's been completely dead on GFWL for a long time, I haven't converted to Steam yet, but I'd guess it's not much better.

Well, on the steam in the weekend you will always find at least 1 match to play with. I already unlocked few achievements because with these loyal Bioshock fans.
