Edit 12/Jan/2016:
Thanks guys for all your feedbacks! This post has been idle since last week, since I was really busy at work and didn't have much time to work on this.
I updated the plugin a couple hours ago with a new version with a "close" button, along with some minor UI improvements. There are still a few bugs to be fixed (e.g. sometimes the popup doesn't show up above some GAs).
Here's a short Q and A regarding some of your remarks:
there's a steam icon after every game's name, that directly opens storepage
You're absolutely right; to be honest, I never noticed it... It's either a recently added feature, or I'm just going blind I guess :) Indeed, that button kind of does the same thing, but I still believe this popin plugin could be useful to get a quick peek of a game before joining a GA.
By the way, this plugin is best used in conjunction with a plugin such as "Easy Steamgifts". Because you can join the GA from the index page without having to open the details page.
Not working for me too. FF 43.0.3 with Greasmonkey on Win10
Seems like an issue related to Firefox, I'll look into it when I have some time!
I'd be interested in being able to click the 'not interrested' button
When I drafted this plugin, I originally wanted to create a very simple one, that only does what it's meant to: show a preview in a popup. I can recommend you to use the "Easy Steamgifts" plugin, which includes a "blacklist" feature. Both plugins can be used at the same time without any issue.

The idea is nice for a quick peek, but honestly, if it is a new title, you need to open the Steam store page to get some ideas on what kind of game it is. (Plus for me it is usually a significantly high chance that I need to press that Not Interested button on it too. :))

Thanks for the feedback! Note that you can actually scroll inside the popin, but it's not really convenient, for sure.
It might be interesting to add a button to show the product page on a new tab, as well as a button to close the popin?
For the "Not interested" button, I don't actually want to make a fully-featured extension, because others already exist and work pretty well. This extension could be used in conjunction with another extension such as "Easy Steamgifts", for example.

Neat stuff! Is there any way to control the view in the popups? As in, scroll downwards and upwards?
Edit: Nevermind, just noticed that I could scroll up and down if I hover my mouse on the popup.

Just what I'm looking for! The popups are great but sometimes it's a hassle when you're scrolling the site. Thanks and kudos to you! ^^
Edit: Noticed you had the popups to be slightly transparent when the mouse aren't on the box. Very nice touch!

A feature I missed on SG was to display the Steam product page for a giveaway directly on the GA list, instead of clicking on the GA link and then on the game thumbnail.
Not sure if not one of my extensions do it, but at least for me there's a steam icon after every game's name, that directly opens storepage :|

it's part of SG.
but this is easier... and you can click the portrait in the GA, but you know that already

Not working for me too. FF 43.0.3 with Greasmonkey on Win10
Disabled all other userscripts for SG to be sure it wasn't a conflicting thing.
BTW. I read your comment a few posts up about possibly adding a button to open the productpage in a new tab? Seems redundant since there's already a direct link next to the game's title?
I'd be interested in being able to click the 'not interrested' button on the product page too. Currently have a tiled tab next to the SG tab to drag the product page link onto just for the purpose of knowing whether to follow or add it to not-interested list. If that were easily done from the popin, it would save me from having to have a tiled tab open.

suggestion:
can you make it so the popup appears only if you hover over the image for a second or more? i move the moust around a lot, and it pops up when i don't want it... if i skim very fast a picture for example

Hi folks,
A feature I missed on SG was to display the Steam product page for a giveaway directly on the GA list, instead of clicking on the GA link and then on the game thumbnail.
(see the screenshot of the resulting popin at the bottom of this post)
I couldn't find any extension to do so, so I took a couple hours to make a small proof-of-concept to do that. If there's already an extension that does the same thing, well sorry about that :)
Disclaimer
This isn't a "finished product", not even a "beta". This is just a proof-of-concept I created to know if it was possible. And it is, thanks to Usersciprt injectors such as Tampermonkey.
Only tested on Chrome x86 on Windows 10 with Tampermonkey extension, but it should work with other platforms/browsers.
Where can I find it?
Here: https://gist.github.com/doomware/d2ee913d57fa61563564
How do I install it?
You'll need to install an extension to install user scripts, such as Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey. Then, import the script from the above link into the extension, and refresh the SG home page.
How do I use it?
Just hover your mouse over a thumbnail on the games list. You should then see a small popin on the left of the page, containing the Steam product page associated to the GA.
Known issues
Popin cannot be closed (there's no button for that yet)FIXED (12/Jan)Please let me know if you find this small script useful, and if there is enough interest, I'll continue developments.
And happy new year everyone :)
