At the moment, I wouldn't recommend buying it. Wait for a pack that includes the latest expansion to go on sale. In the meantime, I can recommend the Civilization IV complete pack. Also, multiplayer is not what this series is really about.

Yes, worth it. I would also recommend the Gold Edition though, it adds a lot more for a small fee.

I never played any Civilization game before then won the game from this site. It has steep learning curve, but when you learning while thoroughly play it, you can get hooked up for hours. At least it's what happened to me. If you ever played strategy game then this game is a must.

without god and kings its only meh but with it it become much more interesting game so I would uggest it

Bad AI in Civ V especially combat one. Civilization IV is better because of that. From similar and new games - Fallen Enchantress : Legendary Heroes.

I'd never really played a strategy game until yesterday when I thought I'd pick Civ 5 up. Played for an hour and then bought the gold upgrade. Its really accessible and such fun!

Civ 5 is great if you aren't already a pro at an earlier Civ. I found 5 to be the easiest to get into. (other than Civ Revolution on my xboX)

I have played tons of single player and tons of multiplayer with friends and either way is lots of fun. Worth checking out!

I had never played a Civ game before V and since I started playing it, I've been hooked.

If you've never played Civilization before it's probably going to be ok. It's by far the worst Civ game though, so having played the other versions I hate Civ V. If you're purely buying it for multiplayer though, don't. Multiplayer is an afterthought and absolutely terrible.

It's extremely fun, you should definitely get it.
