We do lose some luxuries that we had as children, but with adulthood we gain the freedom to do what we want! :D

The funny thing is, when I was a kid I didn't like getting all the attention on my birthday. Now that I'm an adult, I consider it a victory if my birthday passes without anyone finding out about it. :P If someone asks my birthday I say November 31st...

sometimes being an adult really sucks. but you can spend all of your money and chocolates and sweets if you like (whether this is a good or bad thing is, however, debatable), stay up as late as you want and, most importantly of all, not get a lecture about how computer games are childish (although those did become less frequent once my father discovered flight sims and racing games) and you should go Out Side

Eh, birthdays never where a big deal after I turned ~15. I specifically told everyone they didn't need to buy me presents or celebrate or anything like that. I can understand for your point of view how that could be depressing though, but don't forget; "lonely day" is just one letter away from "lovely day"! :D
Also, I like to celebrate others more than myself on my birthday. Gotta love them birthday giveaway threads.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about your day. I understand that feeling the past 3 birthdays of mine.
It sucks that when we are kids, we don't appreciate our age. We want to be older. We want to be adults. No matter how many times people tell us to cherish our childhood, we want to be big and independent. Only when we are finally the big independent adults that we dreamed of being, do we realize how much we should have cherished being a child.

Today, 25th of April.
I woke up early in the morning, excited because its the my birthday.
Eagerly got out of my bed hoping for a birthday breakfast!
It all felt so good until i stepped downstairs to the kitchen.
it was empty.... There was no mom cooking the special meal for me.
I thought maybe it will take a while, So i went to the sofa excited near the phone waiting for all the calls i'd get on birthday from my relatives and my dad from his work.
Hoping for all the good presents i'd get and wondering what it'll be like a good boy.
then my eyes glimpsed at the calendar...
I saw the date, it was 25th of April, 2016. I saw myself in the mirror, i was no little boy anymore.
I wont get any presents or calls today.
It hit me to realize there was no special breakfast because my mom had passed away years ago.
my dad wasn't at his work because hes retired and that i wont get a special big present from him.
and that my relatives have all carried on with their married lives and new families.
my heart got shattered to tiny little pieces.
so I just sit here now, looking at the past and all broken down....
About how wonderful life was when you were a child. :c
Now its all just... a depressing road ahead and around.
