I forgot all those award icon things exist. I just find them to be an annoying waste of space and a distraction from the information I am looking for. I blocked them with my ad-blocker the first day Steam added them and never looked back.

they were introduced a few months back with the points store. basically you can use points to give awards to helpful reviews, and the recipient in turn receives a portion of those points. it's kinda neat an encourages quality reviews.

You can use an ad-blocker to block almost anything you don't want to see on a website, it doesn't need to be an ad. You can add these to the custom filter list of an ad-blocker like uBlock Origin or AdBlock Plus.

The store ones are for the reviews on the steam store page and the community ones are for the reviews in the community section or if you click on a review in the store page. "award_ctn" blocks the reward images, "award_button" blocks the button that allows you to give an award, and "award_aggregated" blocks the condensed list where it just shows the total number of awards and all the images pop up when you mouse over the number.

Sent in just to be a bit helpful :) I have a routine where I write a review for every game I complete, it's a nice endgame ritual to collect my thoughts on the game and contribute to the amount of reviews. That's how I've gotten to 150 reviews lol. And I've gotten 3 awards from doing so and it's nice that my efforts have given me some extra credits to spend on something I like. But if I wrote more meme reviews I would probably have gotten rewarded more :/

seeing your reply I quickly looked at your reviews. I prefer more serious reviews like yours the meme ones just bug me. Sad to hear about magical eyes, its one I've been looking forwards to for years and it just sounds disappointing
Okay just went through them all. Didnt read alot but checked out your negatives for games I recognised which was quite a few. Was surprised by how little the sakura games were hated

Haha since I make reviewing a mandatory ritual I don't put a lot of thought into most of them since I can't think of anything elaborate to say. Unless I'm passionate about my thoughts, like Magical Eyes (That game is such a weird case, it's like watching the very first arc of an anime where you just get a feel for the story and the characters... and then it just ends).
I guess I do have a lot of negative reviews... for me it's important that games are fun to play, and a lot of popular games are not fun to play (like GRIS, which is a beautiful game but boring as hell). So I'm getting those games because they're popular and then they just end up being so damn boring. And well, in the case of Sakura, I do love my shitty VNs!

oh and totally agree about purrfect date im doing it right now and using a damn autoclicker! Like a game made to be played many many times needs a skip button! Any visual novel with more then 1 route needs a skip

Don't really do reviews on steam since it feels to much of a hassle to write about it. I'm not one for being silly like others do and the whole pressure is just not worth it. I do however write on the blaeo group website since you just get to know everyone and just friendly.
