I think it's because most every game you've given away is a bundle game.
No idea why it randomly changed, though.

I remember that I only started giving away bundle games after they announced it was OK to do so, and they had some kind of special algorithm in place. I haven't given anything away for a while now, so it was really weird for my account value to just DROP for absolutely no reason. I didn't break any rules or make any illegal giveaways. :(

im pretty sure they made it so if you give away bundle games you can only get a maximum of 30$ contributed value

Contributor value is not a static number and it will go down over time. All giveaways are only valid for a year, so be prepared for it to keep going down over an extended period. If the price of any game drops then your value will also drop accordingly. Your contributor value has nowhere to go but down and that is by design to keep the site alive.

If people don't contribute games, the site dies. If some person contributes $50 of games simply for the value so they can enter $50 giveaways, why would they ever contribute again? There would be no incentive, giveaways would decline, and the site would suffer. Hence declining values. This only affects people who make giveaways solely for contributor value and not those that contribute just for the sake of it. It prevents those types of people from taking advantage of the system.

Your points makes sense. It just saddens me that people need incentive to give away games on here. I suppose the contributor giveaways give more traffic to the site. I personally believe that giving away should be spread to all and not based on how much you want/able to contribute. I don't agree with the contributor giveaways, but I see what the staff is trying to do.

It's been less than a year since my first giveaway, and in totality I've been signed up for less than year also.
Also, if your contributions "expire' after a year...shouldn't this maybe be in the FAQ?
My problem isn't with my account losing value. My problem is with my account losing value for NO ANNOUNCED REASON. I <3 Steamgifts, I get that it's free and awesome and I shouldn't complain, but at the same time, no one likes to work with a poorly run company, website, or forum. So I felt that I should point out a potential issue.

I agree 100%. Any change to the bundle list should be announced by a site mod. We shouldn't be left guessing as to what is going on. I only know a lot of this because I stalk the forums and all mod posts, and a lot of it is still missing from the FAQ. Someone shouldn't need to stalk like me to have an idea of what is going on around here.

It doesnt list recent changes. You have to know what was on the list before in order to know the changes

really? So value goes down along with the prices? I didn't know that

Odd my amount did not go down from what I can gather...maybe I am wrong though, I am forgetful after all...

I thought if you give away a game and it's added to a bundle after your giveaway, you still get the full value (no "ex post facto" laws?)

It was not overlooked. CG specifically made an exception. Proof
"Yes, Nuclear Dawn was removed from the list. To help 1 person? No, to help over 1,431 users, submitting 1,798 gifts.
Why? Let's look at the stats. Nuclear Dawn was in the Indie Royale - The New Year's Bundle, launched January 5th, 2012. Now, let's compared this to Nuclear Dawn giveaways created on our site.
http://www.steamgifts.com/game/by826/nuclear-dawn
Over 99% of the Nuclear Dawn giveaways were created long after the bundle, or before it. In fact, there's a big spike in June because the developer decided to give away a free gift to everyone that previously owned the game. In my opinion, it doesn't make sense to flag 1,798 gifts as suspicious and future ones as well, because 10 or so Nuclear Dawn giveaways were created around the time of the bundle. "
Now he just looks like a hypocrite

It doesn't matter if your copy specifically was from part of a bundle or not as long as it came after the bundle date. I have two copies, one from a bundle and then one later in my inventory as a bonus from the developer as a gift. Both were after the bundle date obviously so they are considered bundle games.

Yep, I remember the new bundle rule thingie. I did make some bundle game giveaways, but those were a while ago (haven't had time for new giveaways). So, I don't understand why my account value is changing NOW when I haven't had any activity (outside of entering).

I don't understand the problem here. Games get cheaper over time, and a contribution total that drops over time would be a nice incentive for users to continue giving something back to the site.
If anything, this is a positive thing IMHO.

I see. Not sure if this applies in this case or not: Note: Giveaways created prior to a bundle always receive full value
I always thought the value of the contributions was the value of the game at the time the giveaway was created but my giveaways don't add but to what I would expect so that must not be the case.

Nuclear Dawn was overlooked specifically, there's a post on here somewhere talking about it but I don't feel like looking for it. The others, yeah, they need to be there. Just waiting for these Ubisoft games to get added to the exploited list...

Since when does giving away a key on a website equate to being sold in a bundle?
Comment has been collapsed.
No I'm talking about this statement from TheShobo:
"I also added Lucid as many thousands of keys were given away on Reddit."
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep that one was free as well. Shadowgrounds, Lucid, etc are also considered under the rule since these keys were free from their respective developers. Remember that the bundle rules don't only apply specifically to bundle games, but any free or almost free games.
Comment has been collapsed.
As long as the keys were given away by the developer via Steamgifts then they don't count because giveaways from this site can be monitored for regifting. If the developer giveaway occurs somewhere else however (Reddit, etc) then those games are typically added to the bundle list.

Nobody buys anything at full price on Steam.

I have a few extra bundle games but I am fearful to give the rest away because it will lower contributor value. I'm just going to start giving them to the people that I win games from if they don't have it or if i feel like it I'll make a forum post. I rather give it to people that i win games from though so they get something in return

Did Steamgifts.com implement any changes without posting anything about it? The value of my gifted games just dropped about $15 and I don't know why. If someone could link me to a topic about it I'd appreciate it.
