I don't know if mine is very good. I just don't have much to say and don't want to be a 'thanks' spammer. D:

So, what would you call a good ratio?

Nice, most people commenting here are less than 1:1 ratio, yet they claim it's almost required to be above that.

IMO if you have something constructive (or not) to say, feel free to do it. Don't feel obliged to comment on everything.

Ya know... I would rather personally thank someone with a heartfelt thank you when I win something instead of the robot like "ty" on every giveaway page.

There is no good or bad ratio, but it does show how active you are in the forums between the sites.

I prefer quality over quantity, so as long as you comment with a purpose, you're fine with me, no matter the ratio. The majority here would disagree with me, though.

It's because less comments than entries make you seem ungrateful.

inb4 "Thanks spamming is just an empty gesture, bla bla": You can never say if a thank you is truly meant. But without it there isn't any sign of gratitude. Everyone can choose for himself what to do, but I think a nice amount of comments is a pretty good thing. Oh and quality doesn't necessarily exclude quality :)

You write as if what you're saying is objectively true, but in the end, it's just your opinion. You want cons on that opinion? The comment system becomes useless. Actual, useful comments get drowned in a sea of thank you's.

Additionally, my view of it is that I'm not doing anything to anyone by giving them a chance to win. On the other hand, they have plenty of opportunity to show gratitude one and if they win, and most people do that, big time. Also, I'm not creating a giveaway so people can say thanks, I'm doing it because I want to. My ego doesn't need any boosting.

In the end, people who bash others for having a poor comment/entered ratio are being delusional. Not because they have an opinion of that being important - that's completely fine. They're delusional because they somehow think their opinion is right and everyone else's is wrong.

For instance (to intercept that idiotic reply which is bound to originate from someone soon, not you) my comment/entered ratio is extremely poor. Each game I've won, however, I have most definitely expressed gratitude, over and over again. I usually add people who gift me to my buddy list (if they're ok with it) and also let them know at a later time how much I've enjoyed the game. Some douche's here would call me an ungrateful ass anyway, simply due to my ratio.

This site is great. The idea of this site is great. The community? Horrible, props to the exceptions.

I think people should comment when they have something interesting to say.

Eh, I stopped caring about my ratio really. A half-hearted "Thanks" in each giveaway started to annoy me, so I only leave a comment when I actually have something to say. Funny thing is, I usually only have something to say in giveaways that I don't even enter ^_^

Or the occasional time I see the base game Children of the Nile, and even then the comment is just "Holy ****, the base game."

I also think I comment more in games I don't enter. Often it's games I already have which I think are good and don't show up often, so I thank the giveaway creator for making them available to others.

Ratio doesn't really matter, as long as the real meaning behind "thanks" is Ctrl+c Crtl+v

Things like "Thanks for this awesome opportunity to play!" under every giveaway is annoying. Especially if people can't even spell it properly and it's the same mistake everywhere.

Takes longer to copy and paste Thanks then to write it though lol...

i still spam the thank you in the giveaways, i enter most giveaways with my iPhone and the app so I can't comment anyway. I try to make up for it by giving a few games away though.

Saying tnx is nice but at current state its just spam, it has nothing to do with courtesy. As for ratio, the only reason why someone looks at it is e-penor, you may say otherwise but you arent fooling anyone.

As long as you play the games you enter for, you're good. It doesn't matter if you write a whole essay about being thankful if you're not going show thankfulness through your actions.

I'm personally thankful for each giveaway I enter. I understand if some people don't comment on public giveaways and stuff.
